Formation of questions exercise
Change the following affirmative sentences into questions.
1. James plays cricket.
2. Alice speaks French.
3. Heat expands bodies.
4. Peter makes models from clay.
5. She practices the violin each morning.
6. They played well yesterday.
7. He goes to office by train.
8. The doctor is coming to see her.
9. The tablets were bitter.
10. Our boys will win the match.
11. Alice has finished her homework.
12. He has done his exams well.
Answers
1. Does James play cricket?
2. Does Alice speak French?
3. Does heat expand bodies?
4. Does Peter make models from clay?
5. Does she practice the violin each morning?
6. Did they play well yesterday?

Grammar notes
If there is no auxiliary verb in the affirmative sentence, we use do, does or did to form questions. Note that do


and does are used to form questions in the simple present tense. Did is used to form questions in the past tense.
