Many students at university often it quite hard to get jobs, by and so end up taking
temporary , part- time jobs for a few hours a week in shops, restaurants or offices. After
university, many people apply to big companies for a full-time job. The salary they will get
from a company like this depends enormously on the type of job it is. Full- time managers can
expect a fairly high income.
Salespeople , though, who are in commission, can never be sure how much they will earn
each month. Most temporary and part-time jobs offer quite low wages as they are usually paid
by the hour.
Some people, however, decide that being self-employed is much better option than working
for a company, as they can be their own boss.

My first home
When my parents married, they rented a small house and they didn’t have a lot of money for
furniture. The kitchen had a sink for washing up and a cooker, but that was all. They (1)-----an
old table and a chair from the market. They borrowed a sofa (2)-------was also old, but they
