Sally got into work five minutes late as usual. She hung up her coat, sat down
at her desk and turned the computer on. As usual, her friend Jenny rang up
almost immediately. She worked in another department, on the floor above
"Sally, I'm so fed up!" she said.
"What's up, Jenny?"
"It's John from accounts", her friend replied. "He keeps going on at me, he
wants me to go out with him. He just won't shut up!"
At that moment, the boss turned up. He looked at Jenny.
"Hold on, it's the boss." She whispered. "He told me off last week for making
personal calls. YES MR JONES, I'M JUST LOOKING UP YOUR ACCOUNT DETAILS
NOW," she said, turning towards the computer screen. At that moment the
boss went away. "Oh, that was close" she said "I nearly got caught out then."
At that moment, Sally heard the boss's angry voice. "Miss Jones, you are
making personal calls again! Hang up immediately and come to my office!"
Sally was so shocked and scared that she passed out. When she came to, she
was relieved to see that the boss had calmed down.
