The multi-level marketing (MLM) field is growing and its member companies
are multiplying. Should Vietnam’s government ban this business model? Give
reasons and examples from your reading, experience or observations to

support your point of view.
The multi-level marketing (MLM) field is growing and its member companies are
multiplying. Although this business model is quite popular in some countries, when
coming to Vietnam, it seems to disguise in a complex way and causes many
uncontrollable risks. In my opinion, MLM should be banned in Vietnam due to
several reasons.
Firstly, many swindlers use this method to take a huge amount of money from
gullible people. There have been a number of people, most of which are students
and people in rural area, being swindled. The MLM companies told them that they
can earn huge profits from joining their system called pyramid scheme. They use all
of their money; some even borrow money or mortgage their properties to buy a lot
of products. But instead of earning huge profits, the MLM companies suddenly
disappear and the innocent people have to face with big consequences.
Secondly, people who join the pyramid schemes of MLM companies may receive
more losses than benefits. The consumers become free employees of those
companies advertising, selling their products and giving them the profits. There isn’t
any legal benefit such as contract or insurance. Moreover, to sell the products, a
member of the MLM system must make use of all their relationships. That is like
you are swindled by the MLM companies and then your families and your friends
are swindled by yourself. That can damage all of your relationships.
Last but not least, this business model is developing in complex and uncontrollable
ways. Although Vietnam’s government has carried out several policies to manage
and put this business model under control, many illegal MLM companies still exist.
Due to many risks it brings, MLM should be banned in Vietnam.

In Vietnam, the number of students violating traffic laws (no helmets,
excessive passengers, underage driving, etc.) is increasing. What is/are the

most effective solution(s) to this social issue? Give reasons and examples
from your reading, experience or observations to support your point of view.
In Vietnam, the number of students violating traffic laws, such as no helmets,
excessive passengers, underage driving and so on is increasing. Many solutions
have being suggested to solve this issue but they seem not as effective as
expected. In my opinion, the best solution is raising students’ awareness about the
dangers of traffic violations and making them understand why they should follow
traffic laws instead of forcing them to do. Both their schools and families should
take strong actions to make the solution become the most effective.
In school, following traffic laws must be included in students’ regulations. If they
violate the laws, harsh punishments should be imposed. Besides, to raise their
awareness about how necessary they have to follow the laws, they shouldn’t just
learn the theories, reality influences them more effectively. Teachers or students
associations in school can organize some activities such as talk shows or
workshops inviting some police officers or some people that had involved in real
traffic accidents to share their experiences. Moreover, also the teachers should be
good examples for their students, don’t tell the students to follow the laws and the
teachers break the laws themselves.
And in families, parents should pay more attention to their children. Firstly, parents
should be good examples to their children. This helps build their awareness when
they were little and become their habits later. Secondly, parents should control their
children in transporting somehow. That means if parents cannot take their children
to school; make sure they know how their children go to school and whether that
way is safe or not.
If the school and the families work well together, I think not only the traffic law
violations but also other problems of students will be reduced.

In Vietnam, more and more cases of food safety violations have been
reported in media, causing serious concerns for consumers. Why does this
problem still exist? Give reasons and examples from your reading,
experience or observations to support your point of view.
In Vietnam, more and more cases of food safety violations have been reported in
media, causing serious concerns for consumers. However, this problem still exists.
In my opinion, this is due to sellers’ greed, government’s loose management and
the consumers themselves.
Firstly, it is the greed of earning more profit that makes the sellers violate the food
safety. To increase the profits, some food store owners do not hesitate to use
unsafe ingredients with low prices. Some farmers make over use of pesticides,
fertilizers or chemicals in cultivating and breeding.
Secondly, food safety violations still exist may be because of loose management of
the government. A number of food ingredients from unknown sources are going to
markets everyday without being checked. Furthermore, many food safety violations
have passed the safety checking procedure due to officers’ carelessness.
Last but not least, some consumers themselves also give food safety violations the
chance to still exist. Instead of buying products from trustworthy sources which
have brands, labels and safety guarantee, they still decide to buy food from
unknown sources which are sold in local markets or even on the street. It may be
because of lower prices and convenience. But by doing this, the consumers
themselves are giving those cases of food safety violations one more reason to
exist.

Vietnam has a good variety of produce but imported produce is increasing
while exports and domestic consumption are low. As consumers, what can
we do to support Vietnamese farmers? Give reasons and examples from your

reading, experience or observations to support your point of view.

Vietnam has a good variety of produce but imported produce is increasing while
exports and domestic consumption are low. As consumers, I think there are 3
things that we can do to support Vietnamese farmers.
The first thing is the easiest and the most obvious thing we can do, I think. That is
buying Vietnamese products. The government has launched several campaigns
called “Vietnamese people use Vietnamese products” to encourage Vietnamese
consumers to buy domestic goods. This campaign is very meaningful and it has
shown its effectiveness in raising domestic consumption in recent years.
The second thing to do is choosing Vietnamese brands. That means not just buying
one or two Vietnamese products, but focus on the brands. For example, don’t just
buy milk from Vinamilk, they have many other products such as yogurt, ice cream,
cheese and so on. I think this is the further step to help increase domestic
consumption and somehow help the farmers sell more products, too.
Last but not least, do not just doing by yourself, spread the word! We can share our
reviews and good experiences about Vietnamese products, especially the new
brands with other people to break their preconception and underestimation of the
quality of domestic products. In addition, we also can share the stories of
Vietnamese farmers, I mean how hard they’ve tried and the difficulties they have to
face in the compete with exported products, on social networks or forums to
contribute to raise the awareness of Vietnamese consumers about the situation and
how they can do their bit to support Vietnamese farmers.
Each Vietnamese consumer should take actions to support Vietnamese farmers.
This not only helps farmers improve their lives but also contributes to impulse the
sustainable development of Vietnam economy.

Vietnam labor export has been a trend in Vietnam in recent years. What are
some major issues that (potential) laborers have to deal with and why do
these issues happen? Give reasons and examples from your reading,
experience or observations to support your point of view.
Vietnam labor export has been a trend in Vietnam recent years. Laborers agree to
leave their family to work abroad with the hope to earn more money to change their
living condition. Some people did make their dream come true. However, going to
work abroad is not as easy as some people think, yet there are several issues that
potential laborers have to deal with.
The first issue is being swindled. There are many fake labor exporting agencies try
to reach the young employees in the rural areas to take their money with the
promise to help them go abroad to work and then disappear. Some young female
employees are even sold abroad.
The second issue is the fee to go abroad. This fee is a big problem of the poor
families in rural areas. In fact, the fee is never fixed listed. Each company calls for
different amount, which really confuses the laborers.
The third issue is when they successfully go working abroad; the risk of being
exploited is still a concern. There have been many cases of exploiting or bullying in
foreign companies. Some employee received the justice help but some didn’t.
In my opinion, the main reasons of those issues are the culture barrier and lack of
information. The culture barriers (I mean the language, food, or lifestyle, so on)
make Vietnamese exported laborers hard to live and work well in strange countries.
Moreover, the lack of information and even the knowledge and awareness of
exported laborers, most of whom are from rural areas, make them easy to fall in the
traps of the swindlers and hard to protect themselves in unfamiliar countries.

How can we prevent child abuse (including physical abuse, emotional abuse,

child labor, etc)? Give your opinion and support it with reasons and examples
from your reading, experience or observations.
Child abuse is a worrying issue in our society. It requires both family and
community’s attention and actions to protect children. As a mother/father, I worry
about this so much. In my opinion, there are some things parents can do to prevent
their children from child abuse.
Firstly, parents should take care and treat their children well. Do not abuse your
own children. Parents should understand and encourage them to well physically
and mentally grow, not to force them to do what parents want. Many parents think
that violence and scolding are good to teach children but few know that these are
also kinds of child abuse.
Secondly, parents should have knowledge of what child abuse is and its signs. Not
many parents know that child abuse is not only violence but also many other forms
such as emotional abuse, sexual abuse, child labor, so on. It is important to learn
the signs of these kinds of abuse and report them as soon as they appear. For
example, do not wait until you see injury appears that you realize your child is
bullied at school; ask them what happened as soon as they look depressed or
strange.
Last but not least, children should be taught to protect themselves. Parents should
tell their children about their rights and how they should be treated. This helps
children avoid or realize that they are being harmed. For example, we should
encourage children to tell us immediately when their teachers give them harsh
punishments or behave strangely to them.
Take well care of children, have knowledge and in time reaction will help us protect
our children.

An increasing number of Vietnamese students are choosing self-supported

education abroad. Why do you think this is currently a trend in Vietnam? Give
your opinion and support it with reasons and examples from your reading,
experience or observations.

An increasing number of Vietnamese students are choosing self-supported
education abroad. I think this is currently a trend in Vietnam because of some
reasons.
Firstly, every student wants to enlarge their knowledge and studying abroad is one
of the best choices. Studying in another country not only helps students learn more
but also give them a chance to practice and improve their foreign language.
Besides, students also have chance to explore a lot of new things such as culture,
lifestyle or cuisine (food). Moreover, living alone abroad helps them mature and
self-reliant.
Secondly, many families nowadays can afford (have enough money) for education
abroad. With the fast development of our society, people’s living conditions are also
increasing. They earn enough to pay the studying and living fee for their children in
other country.
Last but not least, the process for going to study abroad is not as difficult as it was.
It is now integration period, so the procedure to go abroad is simplified a lot to
encourage people. It is also easy to get information and contact the school or
university that you want to study in. In addition, there are many agencies always
willing to answer your questions and help you deal with all the procedures. Last
year, my sister allowed her daughter to study in Singapore, the educational agent
helped them from the very first steps. All the things they had to do were preparing
their money, necessary documents and other things and followed the instructions.
Everything went smoothly and my niece is still in Singapore now.
In conclusion, with the demand to enlarge knowledge and affordable income, more
and more Vietnamese people are choosing self-supported education abroad.

Cyber-bullying is becoming popular in our society. What are the reasons for
this social issue? Give your opinion and support it with reasons and
examples from your reading, experience or observations.

With the fast development of our society, people now seem cannot live without the
internet and technology devices. This brings convenience to our lives but also some
bad effects. Cyber-bullying is one of the bad things and becoming popular because
of some reasons.
Firstly, some people find that hurting other people makes them feel powerful. They
want others to be fearful of them. Some want to make others do what they want
and have control over them. This maybe because in real life, they cannot gain what
they want or they are dissatisfied about someone and they want to take revenge.
For example, some staffs send junk mails or use viruses to damage their boss’s
email. Or a guy posts his girlfriend’s sexy photos on face-book after breaking up
and she has to do whatever he wants.
Secondly, the bullies may want to be popular. In our modern life, the social network
is a very fast and convenient channel to get information. Some use this to create
scandals or something shock with the hope to be famous. They post unreal stories,
rumors or reveal others’ secrets, especially the famous people. Their posts will
quickly get people attraction; people share and leave comments, which helps their
account become famous.
Last but not least, many people choose cyber-bullying because they can easily hide
their name. Creating accounts with fake names is very easy on the internet. They
can leave bad comments under others’ video or photos without worrying about
being known or any other consequences. They can also send emails, messages;
post photos, videos, hack for passwords or threaten their victims without showing
their name. The victims may suspect someone but it is hard to report because lack
of evidence or these accounts have been deleted.

There are also many other reasons for this social issue. Cyber-bullying is becoming
more and more complex in our society.

Big cities tend to be chosen by criminals from other places. How can
residents in these cities protect themselves against these dangerous
criminals? Give your opinion and support it with reasons and examples from
your reading, experience or observations.

Big cities tend to be chosen by criminals from other places. It is very important for
residents in these cities learn how to protect themselves against these dangerous
criminals. In my opinions, there are some effective ways:
Firstly, be awake. We should always take good care of ourselves and our
properties. Sometimes, our carelessness gives criminals chance to harm us. For
example, we should not bring a lot of money along, use cell phone in crowded
streets or leave our houses unlocked. These may attract thieves. We should
remember to lock our motorbikes and our houses carefully even when we are at
home. Using camera is also a good choice.
Secondly, we should guard ourselves. That means it is good to learn some skills to
react when being attacked. Learning simple martial arts to self-rescue is very good,
especially for women. Alarming also requires skills. When we are attacked by
robbers, shout “Robber! Robber! Help!” instead of just “A aaaaa” with no meaning,
people around will know you are in trouble and help you.
Last but not least, make sure that we can contact the police whenever something
bad happens. We should always keep police contact in hand. Some people ignore
police phone number because they think they will never use it. However, we cannot
know what will happen. So, we should save police contact in our cell phones or
somewhere easy to reach. Besides the familiar hotline “113”, we should also save

the phone number of the nearest police station. I think it will be very helpful.
No one wants bad things happen, so we should do everything to prevent ourselves
from them.

Vietnam has been witnessing an imbalanced labor distribution: more and
more people have been moving to urban areas for work while rural areas have
been increasingly abandoned. How can this problem be solved? Give your
opinion and support it with reasons and examples from your reading,
experience or observations.

Vietnam has been witnessing an imbalanced labor distribution: more and more
people have been moving to urban areas for work while rural areas have been
increasingly abandoned. In my opinion, this is becoming an issue that needs in time
solutions:
Firstly, encourage new business and investment in rural areas. Some people move
to big cities to find jobs because they can’t find jobs in their hometown. Therefore,
new business or investment in rural areas should be encouraged to create more job
opportunities. Many rural areas have great potential that should be taken
advantage such as wide area of land, special plants or beautiful sights. For
example, Dong Thap Muoi is a wetland area with a lot of poor and unemployed
people. But thanks to its climate, there are many rare animals and plants. This
helps increase investment in tourism and modern agriculture.
Secondly, students that move to study in big cities should be encouraged to come
back and contribute to the development of their hometown. Moreover, there should
be policies to help them set up their own business. Start-up companies of many
young people have created a lot of jobs in rural areas. Like <example>
Lastly, high salary and better living condition in urban areas attract people to leave

their hometown. Therefore, in order to reduce this imbalanced labor distribution,
living condition in rural areas should be improved such as increasing salary,
developing facilities and improving other services. The policy of building “Modern
rural areas” of our government has been taken good effects in recent years to
improve living condition in rural areas.
