“Used to” to talk about the thing they used to do
and to understand the main idea of a story by
listening.

Content
1.Warm up: T/F repetition drill
T prepares some statements about Nga’s
grandmother (some are true, some are false).
Sts repeat the True statements, for the False
ones they have to say silent.
2.1.Pre - speaking:
*Transformation:
-Teacher says sth about Nga’s life now.
-Sts transform them to Nga’s Grandma’s life
in the past.
3.1.while - speaking:
*Brainstorming:
Sts work in groups, discuss and write down
the differences between life now and in the
past using the 2 pictures on P.40.
-Where did they use to live in the past? And


now?
-How did they use to travel?
-What’s about the electricity?
-What’s about their life / work?
-Did children use to go to school?
What’s about their entertainment?
4.1.Post - speaking:
-Ask sts to tell their partners about the things
they used to do last year.
2.1.Pre - listening:
*Pre - teach vocabulary:
*Checking technique: Matching
*Ordering:
-She used to live on a farm (T)
-She used to go to school (F)
-She used to work in an office (F)
-She used to stay home (T)
eg:-Nga goes to school
->But her grandmother used to stay home (didn’t
use to go to school)

(didn’t use to live in the city)

-There didn’t use to be
electricity in the home.

traditional games such
as hide and seek...

and buildings.

motorbikes.

for entertainment.

Now I get up early and do morning exercises.

Sts listen to the story and check their ordering
Sts listen again and choose the most suitable
moral lesson -P.41
*Comprehension question:

Sts listen to the story again and try to write as
many verbs as possible.
Ask sts to give the inf of these verbs
