LESSON AIMS:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:




learn about the importance of brand names in the market.
know some famous brand names.
identify some reasons for using brand names

CONTENTS:
Classroom activities
A. Warmer:
Activity 1: Do homework assignment
Activity 2: Make a list of some famous brand names for clothes, shoes, beverages,
automobiles, televisions.
Activity 3: Find some positive adjectives to describe these brand names.
B. Pre – speaking activities:
Activity 4: In your opinion, what do you think about branded products?
Activity 5:In groups, suggest some reasons for people buy or do not buy brands?
Activity 6: Listen to 2 persons talking about brands. Then make comparison with yours.
C. While – speaking activities
Activity 7: Answer the question individually. Who will get more benefits when using brands:
the company or the consumers? Why?
Activity 8: In groups, choose a branded product. Then make a three - minute talk in front of
the class to talk about it. Use some of the following words or phrases.

Fashionable

Top of the range

Stylish

Well – made

Reliable

Timeless

Cool

Luxurious

Inexpensive

Sexy


D. Post – speaking activities
Activity 9: In pairs, answer the following questions
1. What qualities do you associate with these brands: swatch, Mercedes, Nokia?
2. What are their countries of origin?
3. What brands do you associate with these countries: Italy, France, Germany, Korea, Japan,
South Africa, Spain, The UK, the U,S. A, Vietnam?
4. Would you buy a genuine? Why or why not?

Activity 10: Discuss the following questions in groups.
1. Why do some companies make luxury products abroad rather home?
2. Would you buy a genuine?
a. Gucci product if it was made outside Italy?
b. Sony Hi-Fi if it was made outside Japan?
Homework assignment
Activity 11: Prepare a short talk about outsourcing production.
