It is on Hoang Quoc Viet street, quite near my house. I love the food there because it

The decor is elegant with colorful pictures on the wall. I am especially satisfied with
the quick service there because the staff are friendly and helpful.

2) My sister’s getting married next week and we are all excited about the
wedding. Tell me about weddings in your country. What do people wear? Do
they eat special food?

Thank you, for your letter I received two days ago. I wish that your sister will
have a wonderful wedding. Just like in your country, wedding is an exiting event in
Vietnam. First, wedding ceremony is help in the bride and groom’s house. Then, are
guests are invited to restaurant or a hotel to enjoy wedding party. People often dress
up beautifully. Normally, the bride wears a long white dress whereas the groom wears
a suit. Everyone in the party is served delicious traditional food like sticky rice,


boiled chicken, spring rolls, seafood, etc. The guests take turns to toast the bride and
groom. What is the wedding in your country?

3) Last month you and your family moved to a new house in another town.

We finally moved house last month and now life has changed. My new house
is really comfortable. It has a living room, a dining room, three bedrooms, and a
kitchen. My home has a garden. It has a great view and you can see people on busy
roads though beautiful landscape. My neighbours are very friendly. They always help
my family when we arrived. The public transport is very convenient. It’s 5-minutes
walk to market, and bus stop, and 30-minutes to centre of Ha Noi. Looking forward
to getting your responses in the letter.

4) You are on holiday with some friends
Dear Kate,
We arrived in Sam Son five days ago. We got here by coach. On the way to
Muong Thanh resort, we met a lot of our friends who also went there to escape from
the terrible heat of a crowded city. We reached Sam Son beach only to find that it had
been packed with people. Although the beach was crammed with people, we still felt
more relaxed by the fresh morning air coming in from the open sea. When we went to
the seaside, we took off our clothes and put on our swimming costumes and then
plunged into the sea. Then we dug sand to catch little crabs which in no time darted
into their sand holes. I met an accident when I caught a crab. My finger bled with a
deep wound.


In this way, I spent my holidays happily in San Son, a place I shall never
forget. I hope that I may hear from you soon.

it. I have been learning English course for one year. I feel very excited. We had learnt
about grammar, listening, writing and speaking. I have improved a lot. In free time,

a large school in the center of town is much better than in a small one in the
countryside. As we can see, in the city children are exposed to many different things,
the facilities are better than those in the countryside. Moreover, living in the city,
your children will have opportunities to learn and understand different kinds of
people. This is an important part of their education. In addition to this, your children
will have chances to attend varieties of cultural events apart from their study whereas


such opportunities are usually limited in the countryside. Furthermore, your children
will see people working in different kinds of jobs and therefore can make better
choice for their own future. So going to a large school in the city centre is definitely
better.

7) It was your birthday last week and you went out with some friends to
celebrate.

First of all the best time for you to visit is autumn. It’s fine sunny, dry and cool at that

There are alot of interesting place to visit. First, you should come to Hanoi where you
can try famous local food and explore the culture of our capital city. From Hanoi, it’s


good idea to go to Halong Bay. It’s one of the World’s Natural Wonder. Then you
should fly to Nha Trang to enjoy beautiful beach and seafood. Saigon should be the
last destination. You can do a lot of shopping and enjoy exciting nightlife there.
The best way to travel in the city is taxi. It’s cheap and safe. I hope you will enjoy

Many thanks for asking me about my recommendation for some places. Well, here
are some ideas for you.
At first, I think you should travel to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Here you
should visit Old Quarter - a symbol of Thang Long history, culture and architecture in
bygone days. It is famous for its unique cultural characteristics with a lot of
traditional trade villages such as silk trade, jewelry, cotton products, drums products
and so on.
Secondly, you should travel to Da Lat - the city of Eternal Spring. Da Lat have
a temperature climate all year around which make me feel more relaxed and more
healthy. There are many kinds of beautiful flowers and delicious foods in Da Lat.
Finally, I think you should go to Hue - an ancient capital of Vietnam. Here you
will see many historical sites and scenic sites.

10) We had dinner at a restaurant yesterday. It was great! How often do you eat

What time did you get home yesterday? I came back to my home at 11 p.m. Our
dinner was great! I liked it. The new restaurant is the most beautiful I’ve ever come. I
go to restaurant to have dinner twice a week. I usually go with my boyfriend. My
favorite restaurant is very wide with many trees and many kind of food. Most of the
food is very delicious. There are many kind of food in that restaurant and price

reasonable such as fried meat, stewed beef and so on. The waiter is very enthusiastic,
kind and helpful. In general, it is clean. It has a great view of the lake. I hope to have
a dinner with you at that restaurant someday.

I’m glad to get your letter some days ago. Actually, there are many traditional
festivals in Vietnam but the most important one is Tet holiday. It started on the first
day of the new year and lasts for about one week. People often do preparation one
month in advance. They clean their house, decorate them with flowers, kumquat
trees, peach flower branches, etc. day one also do a lot of shopping and store food.
Everyone tries to arrange their work, study to go back home as soon as possible. The
greatest moment is the New Year’s Eve. People are very excited to make traditional
dishes to worship their ancestors, to go out and watch fireworks. On the following


days, people are busy to visit their relatives and friends. They say best wishes to each
other and give the old and children lucky money. The true meaning Tet holiday is to
reunite families and relax, get ready for the next year. What about the New Year in
your country? Please tell me in your next letter!

What outdoor activities are you able to do at this time of year? Tell me about it

I’m so happy to hear from you again.
In the North of my country, the autumn is coming, so the weather is cool and
pleasant. It is lightly sunny and windy. The temperature is about 220C. Sometimes

there is a showers which make the air more fresh and cleaner.
At this time, I can do many outdoor activities. I usually play tennis or run with
my friends. I take my family for a walk. In autumn, there are some festivals such as
Vu Lan ceremony or Mid-Autumn festival (or Moon Cake festival). Vu Lan
ceremony is an opportunity for people to show filial piety to their parents. MidAutumn festival is a traditional celebration for Vietnamese children. This occasion is
an opportunity for the parents to show their love for their children. On this day, the
weather is cool and the moon is the brightest and roundest in the year. The festival
involves the custom of moon contemplating, procession of lights, lion dance and
eating mooncakes and fruits.
Come with us and enjoy lots of interesting and meaningful outdoor activities.

should go to bed early and get up early. You should eat more vegetables and fruits,
less meat. Health plays an important role in our life. So we’d better do exercise
regularly and have a good diet. I wish you’re always healthy and fit.

14) I know I spend too much time watching television! How much time do you
watch? What else do you do to relax

I am very happy to receive your letter. Hope you are well.
I do not often watch television, just about 3 hours a week, because my job is
very busy. I finish my work at about 9 p.m everyday and then I feel so tired.
However, sometimes I watch some movies. They give me some interesting and
meaningful messages about life and human’s feelings. I also like watching romantic
comedies. They make me laugh much. Besides, in order to relax I usually spend time
playing with my son, or listening to music.
Watching television is a good way to relax. However, I think it is not good for
your health if you watch TV too much. You also can play some sports or going out
with your friends.

I am so happy to know that you want to find out about music in my country.
Music is very popular in my country and there are lots of live concerts.
People has their own taste for music. Personally, I like listening to Vietnamese
traditional music such as Cheo, Ca tru, Quan ho. With roots in agrarian society, the
traditional music of Vietnam consists of songs and music expressing many aspects of
village life. When I listen to the traditional songs, I feel comfortable and more
relaxed. Moreover, traditional music reminds me about my childhood.
You should go to my country and enjoy Vietnamese traditional music. I’m sure
you will love this type of music.
