When choosing a job, the salary is the most important consideration. To what extent do you agree or
disagree ?
The question of whether the salary should be taken in account when choosing a job is controversial. In
my opinion, while salary is a key factor, job-seekers should not dismiss other aspects which are equally
important.
Firstly, it should be noted that many people have to rely on their monthly wages so as to pay for their
electricity, water bills or rents. This will, in turn, leads them to the consideration of the salary offered;
therefore, thinking of how much they will make is important. In addition, not only do they have to charge
for their bills and rents, some individuals tend to support their distant families or relatives by setting
some banknotes aside monthly. As a result, much of their salaries are declined and are not sufficient to
support their daily lives. Hence, it is clear that salaries should be prioritized when it comes to choosing a
job.
Nevertheless, there are other factors that are necessary to the applicants. Firstly, personal relationships
in a workplace are really crucial when landing a job. If a person does not get along with their colleagues,
there will be sure a reduction in productivity in a company due to unsuccessful collaboration. Not to
mention, working conditions or the atmosphere in the workplace should also be a factor in job-seekers’
choice of profession. For example, employees will feel comfortable and embraced working with friendly
and supportive co-workers. Secondly, job satisfaction coming from professional achievements are
considerable to the job-hunters. Having acquired skills and gained experience, a person is able to move
up their career ladder. Thus, despite the significance of the salaries, other factors, such as personal
relationships, working conditions and professional achievements, should not be overlooked.
All things considered, while salaries certainly affect person’s choice of profession, I do not think that
money outweighs all other motivators.
