Our habitat is threatened by serious pollution and no one
recognized this clearly. This is one of the burning issues,
upset public opinion in the country today. This problem is
increasingly serious, direct threat of economic development sustainable society, the existence and development of the
current generation and the future. Solve the problem of
environmental pollution in the period of accelerated
industrialization, modernization today is not only the urgent
requirement for grant management, businesses that it was the
responsibility of both the main system and value of the
whole society

Objectives of the study
• Clarify the impact of urban pollution on people

• Find out the cause of the pollution and the specific solutions

to the problem
• This research aims to protect the living environment of
Vietnam as well as in the world

Purpose of the study:
To identify the causes and consequences, to clarify the
nature and phenomena of air pollution, in order to arouse
people's interest in the issue that is considered urgent.
From there, people will be aware of the consequences of
environmental pollution that will cause our environment,
to see the importance of keeping the environment around
us.

Air Pollution
What Is Air Pollution?
What Causes Air Pollution?
Effects of Air Pollution
How to Help Reduce Air Pollution ?

Air pollution is defined as the presence of toxic chemicals or
compounds (including those of biological origin) in the air, at levels
that pose a health risk and which lower the quality of the air or cause
detrimental changes to the quality of life (such as the damaging of the
ozone layer or causing global warming).

Combustion of
fuel is one of
the major
causes of air
pollution in
urban areas.

Artificial

Air pollution
Nature

Carbon dioxide
Power plants exhaust fumes of
automobiles, airplanes and
other human activities
involving the burning of
gasoline and natural gas are
related to the emission of this
greenhouse gas

The chlorofluorocarbons
(CFCs)
A class of synthetic
chemicals
used
in

refrigerants and aerosol
propellants, have caused
holes in the Earth's ozone
layer.

Smoke and fumes posseting out of the
chimneys of manufacturing companies,
contains high levels of carbon
monoxide, organic compounds, and
chemicals. These pollutants, when
emitted, look like black clouds
spreading across the sky. Smoke
released from industries is one of the
major factors of air pollution.

Agricultural activities:
Pesticides used on crops or even in
households cause release of harmful
chemicals into the air. Crop dusting, delousing
homes and even painting supplies are known
to have pollutants responsible for air
pollution

Mining operations
Mining is a process wherein
minerals below the earth are
extracted using large equipments.

During the process dust and
chemicals are released in the air
causing massive air pollution

Several natural causes such as forest
fires, volcanic eruptions, wind
erosion,
pollen
dispersion,
evaporation of organic compounds,
and natural radioactivity also
contaminate
the
air.

AIR POLLUTION

Acid rain
causes a
range of
problems

Increases the acidity levels of rivers,
lakes and seas. This can kill aquatic
life.

Acid rain increases the acidity levels of

soils. This can kill vegetation

Can erode buildings and monuments
(particularly if they are made from
limestone)

Acid rain causes a range of problems

Global warming: Increased temperatures world
wide, increase in sea levels and melting of ice
from colder regions and icebergs, displacement
and loss of habitat have already signaled an
impending disaster.

Depletion of Ozone layer: Ozone exists in earth’s
stratosphere and is responsible for protecting humans
from harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. Earth’s ozone
layer is depleting due to the presence of
chlorofluorocarbons, hydro chlorofluorocarbons in the
atmosphere. As ozone layer will go thin, it will emit
harmful rays back on earth and can cause skin and eye
related problems. UV rays also have the capability to
affect crops.

Asthma is a chronic disease, common among children and

adults. The shortness of breath, a prime symptom of this
disease, can be triggered by pollutants present in the air

Lung infections can occur when
polluted air is inhaled. This can
also lead to shortness of breath.
Air pollution may influence the
development of Chronic
Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
(COPD).
Air pollution can also lead to
lung cancer.

Air pollution can result in
blockage in the coronary artery
or blood vessels that supply
blood to the heart. This
condition is diagnosed as
Coronary Artery Disease.
High level of pollution in the
air can also lead to heart
failure. Irregular or abnormal
rhythms of heartbeat are often
cited as health problems
related to air pollution.
