Occupation Health Status of Workers
Exposed to Dust and Industrial Noise in a
City along Lancang River

Duan Rufei
Baoshan Center for Disease Control and
Prevention, Yunnan, China

Background:
With the economical development of
west Yunnan along lancang river, More and
more industries were introduced.

Background:
Workers exposed to dust and industrial
noise can cause silicosis and occupational
noise-induced deafness.

Background:
To find occupational contraindication and
suspected occupational disease as early as
possible is significantly for occupation
health surveillance .

Aims:
To understand health status of workers
exposed to dust and industrial noise in

Baoshan city, supply references to
industries in Lancang river areas for
occupation health surveillance.

Method:

The total of 1203 workers with silicious
dust, cement dust ,tobacco dust and noise
occupational hazardous factors were
randomly sampled in Baoshan city.
Occupation health examination was
conducted to subjects.

Method:
High kilo-voltage chest radiograph was
used as a screening measurement for
silicosis. Diagnosis of silicosis was
undertaken using occupation health
surveillance standard (GBZ188-2014).

Method:
Pure tone audiometry test was used as a
screening measurement for hearing loss.
Diagnosis of hearing loss was undertaken
using occupation health surveillance
standard (GBZ188-2014).

Conclusion:
1.Workers in highlighted occupational disease
prevention area in Baoshan have a high prevalence
of occupational contraindication and hearing loss.

Conclusion:
2.Noise was the main occupational
hazardous factors in this area.

Conclusion:
3. Enterprises and companies should enhance
protection measurement and improve the working
environment, especially to protect workers from
noise more than 85 dB and working more than 5
years.

Conclusion:
4. As the core of occupational disease protection,
Enterprises should enhance occupational health
education and health promotion. Especially pay
attention to workers at earlier working year.
