the human body. This can help to prolong human life. Besides, new products can be created through
genetic engineering. With genetic engineering, we can create new products by adding or merging
different profiles together. For example, we can create new varieties of tomatoes with more nutritional
value by applying genetic engineering. That will help us reduce the risk of food shortages globally.
Moreover, when applying genetic engineering, the risks of water resources will be minimized. Farmers will
not have to use pesticides for their crops. This will help protect the water supply and avoid environmental
pollution.
On the other hand, genetic engineering can pose major risks to human survival. If human beings can
extend their life more, it leads to the adequate supply of food in the future. We do not have enough food
for a living. Besides, when the animals grow fast, the nutritional value may be reduced. For example,

reduced.

can also produce vaccines, hormones and drugs with the help of microorganism which is genetically
modified. This lows down the price of the products and make more people can afford to them. Moreover,
genetic engineering is expected to be a cure for genetic disorder such as Down syndrome.
Apart from a cure for many dieases, genetic engineering is also used in the food we eat or in the clothes
we wear. In agriculture, many plants which are genetically modified can be tolerant of insects,
environmental conditions and produce better harvest than ordinary ones. It is used also in cotton, a main
ingredient to make most kinds of clothes. An estimated 55% of cotton used to make clothes has been
genetically modified and this number will be 71% by 2040, which shows that the use of GM (genetically
modified) in the fashion industry is becoming more common.

completing their schoolwork. This can affect both their self-esteem and their attitude toward school. Good
handwriting can mean better grades. Studies show that the same mediocre paper is graded much higher
