PART I. INTRODUCTION
I. Reason for choosing the topic
In recent years, our country is constantly developing in all aspects:
economy, culture, society .... To achieve that, opening up, integrating and
exchanging with other countries in the world is an important and strategic policy
of the Party and State. The opening, integration and exchanges require each
Vietnamese people must know foreign languages, learn foreign languages well.

Of the seven foreign languages popular in the world, English is the foreign
language most used by many countries. Therefore, the Ministry of Education
and Training has introduced English subjects into compulsory teaching at all
levels.
The Ministry of Education and Training has put English subjects into
teaching from grade 1 so that students get to know the earliest English language,
access to the era of integration. This is a new, daring decision and also cause
many anxiety and concern for teachers, parents as well as the whole society
because the Grade 1 students just stop at firmly read the Vietnamese alphabet,
many stusents who are not fluent in English, can they learn English?
As an English teacher in primary school, I also wonder. So what to do to
help them- the future owners of the country,young shoots if they are planted
right now, will be able to bring the country to new heights with the five great
powers. How exactly as President Ho Chi Minh taught? From the first days of
teaching English to first graders I found that they were very excited about
accepting a new language. The innocent eyes of the children listen intently to
her, read. They quickly catch up, answer many questions even clumsily. At that
time I thought: Should I go in the right direction, right goal. But the next day
after asking the children to read, answer questions about the knowledge learned
in the last lesson, most children do not. What is the root of the problem? This
made me worry a lot. Love of the job, the enthusiasm of youth has inspired me
to research and find out some small measures to help them read better and
remember longer vocabulary as soon as getting familiar with English.
II. Research purposes
The research focuses on the use of vocabulary teaching methods for
elementary students. On that basis, I introduced some vocabulary measures to
help students remember deeply and have basic vocabulary in communication.
Good use of vocabulary teaching techniques in English for elementary
school students to:
- Create excitement, passion for learning by students.
- Arouse the desire to participate in student exploration and testing activities.
- Help students take initiative in learning activities.
- Help students to pay attention.
- Create conditions for students to learn while playing.
III. Research object
Introduce basic methods and techniques for teaching English vocabulary to
elementary students.
IV. Research methods
Teachers need to apply many research methods such as:
- Method of investigation
- Experimental method
- Theory of language teaching

PART II. CONTENT
I. Basis for argument
The project "Teaching and learning foreign languages in the national
education system for the period of 2008 - 2020" was approved by the Prime
Minister in September 2008. The objectives of the Scheme 2020 are:
comprehensive reform of teaching and learning Foreign languages in the
national education system, implementation of new foreign language teaching
and learning programs at educational levels and levels, with a view to achieving
a remarkable step of 2015 in terms of qualifications and capacity for foreign use.

Vietnamese youth graduated from secondary schools, colleges and universities
have the ability to speak foreign languages independently, confident in

Many teaching methods are offered in the education sector to overcome
the constraints the industry is facing. But the issues raised are generally
theoretically concentrated and largely concentrated at higher levels. Attention to
the teaching method of elementary school is a long-standing issue. It is essential
and urgent to teach vocabulary skills to elementary students.
II. Status quo
1. Advantages
- Hoang Phuong Primary School has been recognized as a national standard
school level 2 and was enthusiastically supported by the people in the commune
to improve the people's knowledge.
- The textbook program has the content of knowledge appropriate to the reality
of student life, there are many beautiful pictures to create interesting for
students.
- The development of information technology has helped teachers have more
resources, images through the Internet.
- Teachers are qualified, enthusiastic and responsible in teaching English.
2. Difficultly
Having taught elementary English for many years, I found that the quality
of the course was not high.
Through surveys, surveys and student feedback, I found some of the
reasons for this limitation:

With curious nature, eagerness to learn, and the ability to sense the world
from vivid visuals to abstract thinking, all students share the same opinion that
they like teachers use teaching tools very much during the English teaching
hours. Actually teaching at the unit of Hoang Phuong Primary School is a unit of
national standard level 2 but the school does not have English teaching room for
students. Therefore, the equipment for teaching English is still lacking so the
service for teaching is limited. In addition, the purchase of equipment for selfstudy English in their families is not everyone has.
2.2.Practical English:
The elementary school where I teach is a commune located in the west of
Hoang Hoa district. This is mainly a farming career, so students are not
practicing what they learned in everyday communication. They do not have the
opportunity to meet with foreigners so they can give some formal English
greetings. Study and practice English only in the classroom. Therefore, students
feel that learning English is compulsory, most of them are not aware of learning
English is necessary for life later.
2.3. Limitations on time and game forms:
Elementary school children are still small, moreover, first graders
recognize letters that are confusing and lead to limited time for organizing
games. Besides, the game forms are not yet abundant. Especially elementary
school children, not only grade 1 students love to learn English that is integrated
into the game.
2.4. Motivation and sense of learning:
Elementary English is still an elective subject so most parents and
students are not aware of the importance of this subject. Some students do not
have any learning motivation so they are not comfortable with the idea of
learning the subject. This has led to weak students who are afraid of
communicating. Ability to absorb slowly, afraid of wrong practice, afraid of the
teacher's bad comments. Some students are quite good, they are good at
communicating not because of their slow learning ability but because they are
psychologically limited, afraid to practice in front of the crowd. At the age when
they have just left the school, they just eat and play, so their sense of learning is
not high, they are still playful. In addition, they focus less on studying and are
lazy to study. is English vocabulary.
The communication of children in the rural sesame is still limited.
Accompanying with the change of books, curriculum and teaching and learning
methods, I found that the communication constraints of rural students were less
communicated in English, so they were less likely to remember. vocabulary. To
communicate in English requires students to practice vocabulary skills and have
certain vocabulary. For elementary students, the vocabulary and knowledge is
not much, but requires them to have a certain amount of vocabulary to
participate in some games. Elementary English is an elective course designed to
help children get to know each other so that some students and parents do not

care so they do not learn the vocabulary and miss the vocabulary. Because of
that I chose to study: "Some English vocabulary building measures for
elementary school students" in the hope of contributing a small part to
improving the quality of learning English for children. primary school student.
III. SOLUTIONS AND HOW TO PROCEEDINGS
In teaching English to help students learn words, remembering words is
an indispensable teaching activity in a particular class. Learning words and
memorizing words is not just about helping students remember the meaning of a
word, but also helping them to hear the words correctly and apply them in
English. So, I found ways to help children understand words, use words and
remember long ago.
The measures I have put forth are, in fact, already mentioned in the
instructional materials in the English subject. However, how to apply these
tricks effectively requires teachers to know how to select and organize them in a
flexible way. It may be appropriate for this lesson but not for other lessons. The
flexibility of the teacher can allow the student to acquire knowledge by playing
games to attract and give them the interest in learning and remember words.
Some game tricks will be more convenient and attractive if the teacher has the
support of information technology. The selection of game tricks to suit each
teaching purpose, each lesson, each means of teaching teaching avoid the
boredom in the activity is an important content is mentioned in this topic. I
proceed as follows:
Step 1: Preparation before teaching from:
To teach words and help students to remember for a long time, teachers must
prepare the following:
- Prepare a vocabulary lesson to learn or review according to the characteristics
of each lesson.
- Choose games and tricks according to each lesson content.
- Preparation of some teaching materials (extra instructional board, brushes,
pictures, real objects ...)
- Prepare computer, there is support of information technology application.
- Prepare and arrange classes to organize students with some effective games.
Step 2: Perform the procedure:
There are many ways to help students remember vocabulary for a long time.
However, each lesson has its own characteristics. Depending on the content of
the unit, teachers can choose the appropriate way. Teachers can take part in the
Warm-up, Free Practice or right after the vocabulary is taught.
Teachers make logical games that create a cheerful and lively classroom
atmosphere that helps students have a relaxed mind to remember from the
lesson. Games can be made in the form of teams, teams, pairs or individuals.
However, in whatever form, the teacher also needs to organize all the students in
the class to monitor and comment on them to do the same.
Step 3: Basic steps to teach vocabulary.

1.Some vocabulary tutorials:
1.1. Use illustrations:
- The purpose of this activity is to help students memorize vocabulary better,
pictures and pictures with eye-catching colors can be memorized in the longterm memory of the learner.
- When the teacher makes any new words, the students will be completely drawn
by the pictures or pictures on the board or on the projector.
Example: When introducing the word "ant", the teacher can present a picture
that is related to the word. Then instruct students how to read English.
1.2. Reading by team, group, individual:
Characteristics of elementary school students, especially grade 1 students,

Example: When introducing the word "ball"
Teachers use the real ball to introduce the word "ball", teachers to students

1.3. Color
Color is a way to help children learn while having a good time.
Example: When introducing the words "dog, cat"

asking the students to take photos of the word. Praise the beautiful children,
encourage the children are bad. Teachers should save some of the most beautiful
pictures in the study area to encourage them to try next.
1.4. Beautiful writing contest:
The purpose is to help students memorize vocabulary
Example: Teacher introduces the word "ant, apple".
After the introduction, the teacher asked the students to take the child
table and white chalk wrote the words that the teacher had introduced. The
teacher reads the words, the size of the student's words that the teacher just read.
Teachers praise the children write properly, beautiful, encouraging the children

1.5.Matching :
The goal is to help students review words or words with meaning.
- Depending on the purpose of each lesson, teachers can design activities
accordingly. Can be used in the word lesson, or in the reinforcement game
from ...
- Students can perform in groups, pairs or individuals in this game.
1.6. Jumbled word

words.
Write some words on the board or on A4 paper with unordered letters.
- Ask students to rearrange the letters to form words.
- Students can perform competitions between groups, pairs or individuals.
- Ask students to read the completed words.
1.7. Circle the words
The purpose of this game is not only help them remember words, meaning of
words but also know the word classification.
- Each line is for 3 words (one for the other).
- The teacher asks the students to circle the word
- Students can be grouped, using the extra table to make this game.
Ask the class to read all the words.
2. Tips for students to learn from and review from home
2.1. Learn from:
- There are many ways to learn the word, but with the first grade students, the
word training is the best.
- After each lesson, the teacher asks the students to write the words they learned
in the child table and the notebook. The purpose of the writing practice is to help
the students remember words while helping them write the words. . Later in the
class, the teacher asks students to bring their notebooks for examination.

2.2. Vocabulary
The teacher instructs the students to make paper cards, one on the English
word, one on the drawing board. These sheets can be put into a pen box ... to
carry with you or can stick on the wall in your room to learn often.
IV. EFFICIENCY OF IMPLEMENTATION:
After a period of use the tips to help students remember from the lessons
in school. I realize that :
- Less and more dynamic learning, students are more active in learning by the
amount of words. Students have the habit of actively participating in games.

- The use of tricks requires the flexibility and selectivity of the teacher to
avoid boring students and appropriate for each lesson. Depending on the type
of words, choose the tricks to achieve high efficiency. Under the creativity of
the teacher there will be many other tricks for the teacher to use, but the tips I
presented above are suitable for students of grade 1, easy to implement and
also attractive children.

After a while applying the above tips to the actual teaching I have drawn
some problems.
1. For teachers:

Be proactive in understanding the psychological depths of students, so
there are ways to choose the appropriate game for each student and each lesson,
helping to improve English dynamics for students.
Practical tips for remembering the majority of words are made in the form
of games, so the classroom atmosphere is less stressful and the lessons are more
lively and effective.
Teachers use these tips to help students remember not only in class but
also to help students remember when at home
2. For students:
- Helping children to have motivation to learn, absorb good lessons and
improve the quality of learning English.
- They are more interested in the subject, learn more words and remember
words. Their thinking ability is also improved.
- They learn words, understand the meaning and use of vocabulary in
communication practice. So you will have a passion for learning this subject.
- Know and apply some learning styles from home.
After a time of using the tips to help students remember from the class and some
tips to help students remember when at home. Vocabulary of students increased
significantly. Having this vocabulary will help them actively participate in
learning, research, confidence in practice and communication, contributing to
improving the quality of students and teaching effectiveness of teachers. Thus,
the use of tips to help students remember the word in class, not only create fun
atmosphere, excitement learning of students, but a scientific wizard, creative
teacher. I believe that if we continue to implement this initiative seriously,
throughout the teaching process, the quality of learning English in Hoang
Phuong Primary School will have more positive results.
PART III. CONCLUDE
I. Conclusion
Vocabulary plays an important role in the language system. Without
capital, people can not use it as a means of communication. Teaching English
vocabulary to students, teachers must have a method for all students to
remember the vocabulary effectively.
The above is a bit of experience that I myself have learned in practice at
Hoang Phuong Primary School. It has helped me overcome the limitations of the
teaching process. We hope to have the comments, add, draw experience of
colleagues to the topic is more feasible.
II.Recommendation:
In order to apply these tricks successfully and effectively in the lessons, I
have some suggestions as follows:
In addition to the training on teaching methods administered by the
Department of Education and Training annually. The education and training
sector in Hoang Hoa district should organize training sessions and seminars to
give English teachers the opportunity to learn and exchange experiences. In

addition, the equipment for the school such as: labs, audio-visual rooms,
illustrations, cassette players ... is really necessary. The school should create
favorable conditions, encourage and help teachers to perform their teaching
work in order to improve the quality of English language education.
