Abstract : U nder t he co nditio ns of co nt rolled seawater temperat ure , salinit y , p H and subst rate , t he influ2
ences of temperat ure , salinit y , p H and subst rate o n t he growt h and survival of B aby loni a areol at a juveniles
were st udied respectively. The result s showed t hat :t he upper and lower limited temperat ure were 11 and
35 respectively. The op timum temperat ure was 14 32 and t he mo st optimum temperat ure was 26
29 . under t he optimum temperat ure , t he growt h rate increased wit h increasing temperat ure : t he growt h
rate was 226. 5 m/ d at 29 . The upper and lower limited salinit y were 11 and 38 respectively. The opti2
mum salinit y was 14 35 and t he mo st optimum salinit y was 17 29. U nder t he optimum salinit y , t he low
salinit y can imp rove t he growt h rate of B . areol at a juveniles. The influences of salinit y o n growt h was less
o bvio us t han t hat of t he temperat ure. The growt h was t he best and t he survival rate was t he highest at sea
water p H value of 8 . When t he p H value lower t han 7 and higher t han 9 , t he growt h and t he survival rate
will be o bvio usly declined. So me sand which p ut o n t he bot to m of t he pool will increase t he growt h rate re2
markable but has no remarkable influences o n t he survival rate of B . areol at a juveniles.
