information , words and structures to talk about the birthday party and anniversary party in the United States so that
they can do well the exercises .

Teacher's Activities
1.Warm up: (6mn)
- T: What's your birthday ?
What do your parents and your friend often give
you?
What do you often prepare for your birthday party?
Do you remember your father's and your mother's
birthday or their wedding day?
What do you often give them on their birthday and
their wedding day?
Ask sts to work in groups to answer the questions and
then call on some pairs to practise speaking in front of
the class.
Then give sts handout and ask them to do it in groups
Explain some difficult words


+ Silver: the 25th anniversary of a wedding.
+ Ruby: the 40th anniversary of a wedding.
+ Golden: the 50th anniversary of a wedding.
+ Dimond: the 60th anniversary of a wedding.
2. Before you read:(6mn)
Give sts a handout and ask them to work in pairs to do it.
Walk around the class , help sts when they need.
Call on some Sts to present their answers in front of the
class.
Let sts comment, listen and correct.
Guide sts to read these words.

1.Warm up: (4mn):
Give sts a handout and ask them to work in groups
to complete the chart.
Have sts do in groups .
Walk around the class and provide help when they
need.
Then call on some to present their answers in front
of the class.
Listen and give the right answers.
+ Decoration: flowers, balloons, coloured lights.
+ Activities: singing, playing games dancing.
+ Clothes: suit, skirt, shirt, jeans, T- shirt, dress
+ Special food/drink: fruit juice, mineral water,
coke, meat, hot-dog, bread, milk, pizza.

Work in groups to complete the word map.
Handout : Complete the word map with from the box
and add two more words to each category.

2. Pre- speaking: (10mn)
Task 1: Ask sts read the requirement.
Have them dicuss in groups the way to do this task.

the class.


Read the requirement, and discuss the way to do .
study the questions .
And work in pairs to finish it.(one asks and the other
answers).

Ask sts to work in pairs to ask and answer
about the party which they took part in .
Let sts do the task in pairs.
Walk around and help sts with some new words.
Then call on some pairs practise model.

3. While - speaking: (20mn)
Task 2:
ask sts to read the requirement and discuss the
way to do the task.
Call on some to present .
Listen and guide sts do the task in pairs.
Have sts work in pairs .
Walk around the class offer ideas and
comments when sts need help.
Then select some pairs at random and have them
play roles in front of the class.
Task 3:
Introduce the situation and ask sts to work in
groups to discuss the party which they are going to
take part in with suggestions
Elicit things they consider when planning a party.
Teach necessary vocabulary items and useful
expressions for negotiating.
Then guide sts to make question sentences to ask
for their planning .
Ask sts to work in groups and gets them to do the
task, which is planning a party in the best way they
can for a party compitition.
In groups sts will negotiate in order to come up
with a plan for their parties.
Walk around to check and offer help. While doing

so, listen and take note of their errors, and provide
corrective feedback when necessary.
4. Post - speaking (10mn)
Task 4:
After checking that all the groups have finished
Task 3 . Introduce Task 4 : sts informing of their
coming parties and inviting people to come.
Elicit the verb tenses and structures sts might want
to use when informing the class about their coming
parties. ( future with "be going to", "plan to do
something", "intend to do something" , "expect to
do something").
Then call on the presentative of each group to
report about the parties that they have planned
Listen and take notes of their errors and provide
corrective feedback after that.

Work in pairs to discuss to do the task.
Practise speaking with this information in pairs.
Some pairs practise in front of the class.
Sts A: It's lovely! I've just been invited to Hoa' s house
my closest friend for dinner.
Sts B: Oh, how nice. What do you often do when you
are invited to someone's house?
Sts A: Well, it's a custom to bring a small gift.
Sts B: Really, like what/
Sts A: Maybe some flowers or something for desert.
Sts B: And is it alright to bring a friend along.
Sts A: Well, if you want to bring someone you are
expected to call first and aks it is OK.

Anothers listen and comment.
Listen to teacher carefully and work in groups to
discuss the way to plan a party.
Take some important information to plan a party.
Then make question setences with suggestions and
practise speaking with them in groups.
. Budget: How much you spend for your party?
. date and time : When do you organise your party?
. who to invite: Who have been invited to your
party? / How many people do you plan to invite and
who are they? (relatives, friends, classmates,
teachers,…)
. place: Where do you organise your party? ( home or
restaurant)
. formal or informal dress: What kind of clothes do you
wear at the party?
. decoration: How do you decorate the party?(coloured
light bulbs/ flowers)
. entertaiment: What activities will take place? (dance,
music, games)
. food and drink: What food and drink will be served?
After finishing Task 3 listen to teacher 's introduction
of Task 4
And informing the coming parties and inviting people
that have planned.

Some presentatives of each group report in front of the
class the own planning.
Other groups take notes while listening to their peers .
Then listen to teacher 's providing corrective feedback

and take notes if necessary.


5. Homework:
Ask sts to write a paragraph about a party they
have been to.

C- LISTENING

I. Aim: By the end of the lesson sts will be able to listen about girl's telling a party that she has been to and after
that they can develop such listening micro-skills as listening for specific information.
II. Teaching method: communication method
III. Teaching aids: pictures, handout, cassette, tape, textbook
VI- Procedures:
Teacher's Activities
1.Warm up: (5mn):
Devide class into 4 groups and introduce the game:
Ask sts to generate as many words related to
birthday and birthday parties as possible in 4 mn.
Then divide class into 4 sections as the numbers of

the presentative of each group to come to board and
write their answers.
Then teacher gets the whole class to count.
Each correct word gets one point.
Which group has more points is winner.
2.Before you listen: (15mn)
Ask sts to cover their books and show them the
picture in the book, then ask them to guess what
they are going to listen about.
Then give feedback . And get sts to work in pairs to
answer the questions on page 36 .
Have sts work in pairs then call on some sts to
answer the questions and explain their reasons.
After that ,check with the class.
Then teach some new words will appear in the
tapecript.
Help sts to pronounce the words correctly.
Have sts practise reading in chorus 1-2 times then
call on some to check.
Ask sts to guess the meaning of these words or give
the meang of some difficult words.

Play the game in 4 groups.
Generate the number of wordsrelated to birthday
and birthday parties .
Age, balloon, birthday, blow out , cake,candles,
cards, candy, cookies, chocolate, confetti,

Observe the picture and guess the content of the
tapecript .
Then work in pairs to answer the questions on
page 36.

3. While you listen: (20mn)
Task 1:
Introduce the situation; we're going to listen to a
girl telling about bithday party that she has been to

statements are True (T) or False (F) put a tick (V)in
the appropriate box.
Have sts read the sentences in the task to make sure
that they understand the task clearly and underline
key words in each sentence..
Play the tape the first time.
Ask sts to do the task individually .

their answers with a partner.
Call on some sts to check their answers.
Play the tape the third time and stop in the right
answers to check the last time.
Task 2:
Ask sts to read the situation and dicuss the way to
do the task in groups.
Call on some to present in front of the class.
Listen and explain the situation again
Have sts read the questions to make sure that sts
understand the task clearly.
Ask sts whether they can answer the questions
without listening again and guess the answers by

remembering or not .
Play the the first time. Call some sts to check.
Play the tape the second time .Ask sts to compare
their answers with a partner.
Call on some sts to check their answers.
Play the tape the third time and stop in the right
answers to check the last time.
4. After you listen (5mn)
Put sts in pairs and introduce the task: "Supposed
that Mai is your common friend. Yesterday was her
birthday but one of you couldn't come . Now you
ask the other person about Mai's party".
Distribute the handout for sts to do the role play.
Remind them to use the correct verb tense. In the
mean time, go around the class to check and offer
help.
Aks sts to dicuss these questions in pairs
And call on some pairs to practise asking and
answering in front of the class.
Listen and give corrections.

Listen to the tape three times and do the task

I. Aim: By the end of the lesson sts will be able to define the format and struture of an informal letter and write an
informal letter of invitation..
II. Teaching method: communication method
III. Teaching aids: pictures, handout, textbook
VI- Procedures:
Teacher's Activities
1.Warm up: (5mn):
Give sts a handout of a jumbled letter in
advance .
Divide the class into 4 groups .
Distribute the handouts and introduce the task:
"sts are going to re-order the sentences into a

handout in groups and some stand up to present in front
of the class.

+ The place: my parent's place, my school, my
house,…
+ The time and date:
+ The invitation itself (Would you like to come?/

2.Pre-writing: :(10mn)
Task 1:
Set the scene: You are going to write a friendly
letter to invite your classmates to a party that you
hold.
Get sts to work out the content of their letters by
answering the questions in Task 1
Call on some sts to answer the questions and
elicit more ideas from the class by writing them
in the handouts with the chart.
Put sts to go on in groups to find out the ideas to

fill the chart in the handouts.
Walk around the class , offer ideas and
comments when sts need help.
Then call on some sts to present their answers in
front of the class.
3. While - writing: (20mn)
Task 2:
Get sts to do the task individually and then
compare their answers with a partner.
Call on some sts to give the answers and write on
the board. And elicit comment from the class and
give the correct answers.
Task 3:
Ask sts to use the chart and the letter in Task 2to
make an outline for their writing individually.

4. Post writing (5mn)
Choose one letter and read it to the class.
Compare the writing to anothers.
Then elecit corrective feedback from the class
and give final comments afterwards.
Draw sts attention to the format of the letter and
the organisation of ideas and language use.

Then take the note of checking
Observe to the corrections of some the others' writing.
Give commentations.

5. Homework:
Write a letter to one of your friend to invite
him/her to your gathering family party.

I. Aim: By the end of the lesson sts will be able to distinguish the sounds / l / , / r /, and / h /. Pronounce the words
and sentences containing these sounds correctly.
- Distinguish the uses of infinitive and gerund in active and passive voices. Use these structures to solve
communicative tasks.

VI- Procedures:
Teacher's Activities
1.Pronunciation: (10mn)
Introduce and read loudly 3 sounds / l /, / r / ,/ h /
Ask sts to repeat.
Introduce the way to pronounce these sounds .
And notice to sts that :
- when producing / r / sts curl the tongues more
backward than when they produce / l /
When producing / h / they move their vocal folds
from wide apar to close together.
Ask sts to practise pronouncing the sounds in
chorus 2 - 3 times
Then call on some to check in front of the class.
Ask sts to work in pairs and take turn to read
aloud the given sentences .
Go around the class and take notes of the typical
errors.
Call on some sts to read the sentences again and
provide the corrective feedback.
2. Grammar : (25mn)

Exercise 1:
Aks sts to revise the forms and uses of infinitive
