Honors Algebra II Project
Boys’ and Girls’ performances in Math
Introduction:
The purpose of this project is to investigate between boys and girls, who perform better at
Honors Algebra 2.
This topic is really important to us because nowadays gender equality is extremely critical to
society and by doing this project, we will be able to take a further step at acknowledging and
closing gender differences, especially in the mathematics field
The analysis team members for this project includes that following Honors Algebra II students:
Ha Dao, Aylar Tekaeva
Hypothesis:
In general, the girls will have a higher average scores at Honor Algebra II than boys.
Methodology:
Step 1: Choose a population that will be investigated which is Honors Algebra II students
Step 2: Change the grades(letter) to the scores(number):
A=4; B=3; C=2; D=1; F=0
Step 3: Separate the population to boys and girls and since we want to have an accurate data, we
will take 90 boys and 90 girls randomly from the population.
Step 4: Compare the average of each groups’ scores per advisories
Our sample space is nonbiased because we use random number generator (0,9,120) and
(0,9,95)
