Describe a product or application which is based on artificial intelligence
You should say:
- What it is and what it is used for
- How it is used
- And what you think of it
(What it is and what it is used for)
I’m going to describe Google Maps, a reliable mapping service providing location information
through satellite imagery. Google Maps was started on February 8, 2005, and
uses JavaScript, XML and AJAX. Its website works in almost any web browser or through mobile
applications on platforms like iOS and Android. Google Maps is an incredibly versatile tool that
makes it quick and easy for users to find their way from point A to point B - whether that's a quick
jaunt down the street or a transcontinental trip.
(How it is used)
Google Maps is available on both computers and mobile devices. One of the first things you
should do with Google Maps is save your home and work addresses. When using the Maps feature,
just clicking on a particular point allows you to know just how far it is to your current location
and how long it takes to get there. Often, Google Maps will offer you more than one route from
the starting point you choose to your destination. For each route, it will display an estimated time
for the trip and a short description of the route. This will help you plan your travels and organize
your schedule.
(And what you think of it)
The efficiency brought about by this online tool cannot be denied as it has the ability to check
possible routes and landmarks for faster travel time. This can make your journey easier and help
locate businesses, venues and private addresses that users are not familiar with. Actually, Google
Maps offers you a lot more features than directions. Google Maps street view helps with the

researching process by allowing prospective customers to take a virtual tour before visiting a
business. The potentials of this app are just endless.

Describe a good experience of online shopping
You should say:
- When it happened
- What you bought
- Why you bought it
- And explain why you think it was a good experience
(When it happened)
Well, I’m quite into shopping, especially when it comes to clothes and electronic devices. If you
ask me, I have a never-ending list for things that I wish to purchase and among them, the one that
spring to mind first is my washing machine. I decided to buy this online because the website
offered a discount for electronic equipment.
(What you bought)
At first I was going to buy a television, but on second thoughts, a washing machine was more
practical. The washing machine is made in Japan by a popular brand name and it has been in use
for nearly 1 years until now. It has relatively larger capacity and can also accommodate bulkier

items as compared to my previous one.
(Why you bought it)
For one thing, this new washing machine requires few manual works. The numbers of clothes that
need washing in my family have increased dramatically over the year and it has become
cumbersome for me to do all those laundry works using the old one. Furthermore, the washing
machine is fully equipped with functions to dry the clothes and facilitate automatic drying as
well, so I don’t have to take the trouble to take all the dresses on the roof top and have them dried
out in the sunlight.
(And explain why you think it was a good experience)
The product is cost-effective and reliable to me. The delivery was on time and I was also assisted
with the installing process, so I was really contented with the overall service of the online store.
The store offered my family proper maintenance services, which shows its endeavor to serve its
customers with care.

Vocabulary:
21. when it comes to [expression]: as for something; speaking about something khi xét
đến, nhắc đến cái gì
Eg: W hen i t com es to fi shing, John i s an ex pert .

23. spring to mind [expression]: to come quickly into your mind: hiện ra trong tâm trí
Eg: Say the word "Australia" and a vision of beaches and blue seas immediately springs
to mind.
24. on second thoughts [expression]: used when you want to change a decision you have
made: không thể thiếu được
Eg: Can I have a cup of coffee, please? - actually, on second thoughts, I'll have a beer.

Describe a time that you spent a lot of money on something
You should say:
- When it happened
- What you bought
- Why you bought it
- And explain why you think it was a good experience

(When it happened)
I’m going to describe a time that I bought a high-end item for myself, which must have been years
ago. It was the time when Apple just released Iphone6 with astounding success. Apple’s products
have an army of loyal fans that would promote Apple until the cows come home. They buy
absolutely everything that they produce, no matter what the cost.
(What you bought)
On reflecting, it did take me a while to officially decide to buy the latest model of Iphone6. Well,
the temptation was just so irresistible that I spend nearly a thousand dollars on the phone. The
iPhone 6 addressed a number of problems Apple had developed, coming with a much larger screen,
a boosted processor, better camera, improved battery and - crucially - overhauled design.
(Why you bought it)
I have always been a fan of Apple. In terms of functionality, Apple knows how to create a product
that’s really easy to use. In fact, I like iOS system better than Android. Maybe it’s Apple’s
interface and design that draws me in. Well, when it comes to mobile phone, I myself highly
regard elegance, ease of use and clarity of mind above power, customizability and choice -- so an
iPhone proves to be a more preferable choice to me.
(And explain why you think it was a good experience)
It’s the best user experience I've ever had with a phone. The battery life is great, camera is
satisfying, and the graphics are outstanding. Furthermore, the phone integrates with its Visual
Voicemail and Siri systems to make it easy for you to call people and to manage the messages that
they leave when they call you. Overall, to me, it is fast, reliable, and very solidly and intelligently
constructed, and is just generally a better class of devices than many alternatives.
Vocabulary:
31. high-end [adj]: intended for people who want very good quality products and who
do not mind how much they cost: tiêu chuẩn cao
Eg: High-end video equipment always has unique appeal to young men.

Describe a time when you taught an older person something new
You should say:
- When it happened and who you taught
- Why you taught this person
- And explain how you felt about it
(When it happened and who you taught)
I enjoy teaching and imparting my knowledge with others. Today, I’m going to talk about a time
when I taught a new skill to my aunt. She is a seller at the market, who are always occupied with
dealing with customers or transporting goods. About a month ago, she needed my instruction
because she wanted to send an important excel file to one of her frequent customers. I willingly
agreed.
(Why you taught this person)
Normally, my uncle would take the responsibility for this relatively complicated task, but he was
away from home that day. My aunt has little proficiency in MS Excel, so she couldn't fill the data
as required by the customers. She immediately sought for my help, knowing that I have to learn
MS Excel to complete university assignments. I then asked her to sit at ease and I took my laptop
and opened a new excel sheet and started typing the information and applying the formula. It took
about one and a quarter of hour to complete the file. Not only did I fill the data effortlessly but
also taught my aunt about the easiest tricks to use this software.
(And explain how you felt about it)
Learning this new skill, my aunt became very happy and relieved eventually. The prospect of
struggling with MS Excel for business no longer haunts her. As I see it, she was actually an
attentive learner and her quick acquisition of the new skill gave me a sense of fulfilment. The
incident was really worth our while. I’m glad that from then on, she will be able to use this
software without seeking anyone's help.

I have several pieces of modern technology and electronic gadgets that I often use and among
them, I would like to talk about the electronic dictionary I bought years ago in a bookstore. On the
surface, it was really eye-catching. It was a white colored digital dictionary, portable, compact
and light, not more than 4 by 6 inches in dimension, but was one of the latest models.
(How you use it and why you bought it)
This versatile dictionary also served as an Ipod, which allowed me to listen to music and play
games. Above all, as an avid English learner, I need an electronic dictionary in my study. In terms
of the main utilization, it really came in handy for me. I could easily carry it in my pocket and I
used it quite often to learn new words and that has helped enhance my language skill a great deal.
Since then, it has been serving me faithfully, allowing me not only to do a quick search for words
and expressions, but also to create specialized personal glossaries.
(And explain why you think it is important)
Thanks to this dictionary, learning English has gradually become my pastime, rather than a
compulsory, tedious subject in school. Until now, I still count myself fortunate to buy this at such
an affordable price at that time. This electronic dictionary has changed the way I learn English and
helped me to excel at this language.
