Introduction
Currently, our country is in the process of integrating the global economy plus the
development trend of industrialization and modernization of the country, which has
made our country's economy make great progress. Therefore, the field of import and
export of goods to the international market has become more important and essential
than ever. Manufacturers not only compete with each other for the quality of goods
and prices but also for competing in the material distribution management system. In
fact, businesses cannot self-implementation fully and effectively carry their goods
abroad, but have to rely on freight forwarding companies.
Understanding the market trend and the necessity of freight services, Quoc Viet
Transport and Trading Co., Ltd. was born. For nearly ten years of establishment, up to
now Quoc Viet Transport and Trading Co., Ltd. is one of the companies providing
freight forwarding services with a diverse number of services by mode of transport
(sea, airway, express delivery), characteristics of the goods (ordinary goods,

dangerous goods), scope (international, domestic). And especially, there are goods
classified as dangerous goods to be careful when shipping. Dangerous goods are
goods that contain dangerous substances, when they are transported which may cause
harm to life, health, the environment, safety and national security. Therefore, when
making shipping this item, the person carrying it must not only have a professional
certification, but also must ensure experience, comply with the international rules and
standards of the International Air Transport Association. Recognizing the above
problem, the writer has decided to choose the topic: "Exporting process of dangerous
goods by air at Quoc Viet Transportation & Trading Co., LTD" to better understand
the export process and have a more specific view with this item.
By knowledge of yourself, with the enthusiastic sharing a of employees of Quoc
Viet Company, and the guidance of Mr. Le Duc Nha, after a period of practice, I have
completed this report.
The layout of the report consists of 3 chapters:
Chapter 1: Overview of Quoc Viet company
Chapter 2: Process of exporting dangerous goods by air at Quoc Viet Company
Chapter 3: Recommendations and solutions

In terms of the number of employees, for Quoc Viet as an enterprise providing

appropriate, neither too crowded nor too little. Employees are given detailed tasks, so
the situation of personnel management becomes clear.
With the majority of the company's personnel is male, it can be seen that the
demand for the position of freight forwarding, often having to work "operation" is a
lot. Jobs that require thoroughness and carefully, such as documents or accounting, are
mostly female. In order to meet the requirements of the job and also be flexible at
work, male employees in addition to having experience in forwarding jobs, require
knowledge of the document work is It is absolutely necessary and in order to do so,
there must be a rotation between employees.

Chart 5. Compare QVTrans business operations results from 2017-2019
(Source: Accounting department)

Look at the data sheet through the years and chart the business results from 20172019 shows an overview of the company's business operations as follows:
- In terms of revenue:

We can see that there has been a growth of about 200 to nearly 300 million VND
each year and for 3 consecutive years. This proves that the company is having a stable
development and growth. It can also be seen that the company's business strategy is
reasonable, maintaining a fixed customer base, attracting and finding more potential
customers has helped the company have increasing revenue. However, in the market
with more and more competitors, maintaining the stability of the business is highly
appreciated, but the company also needs to have more breakthrough in revenue to be
able to prove its enterprises in the industry.
- In terms of costs:
Over the period from 2017-2019, along with the increase in revenue, the cost also
increased at an average rate, the cause is due to expansion of the company's human
resources as well as facilities for the working process, the price of imported raw
materials increased compared to previous years, the unit price of imported goods
therefore also increased. At the same time, due to the impact of the economic crisis,
inflation led to rising costs, the price of international freight services increased, and so
did the wage policy. Therefore, the company also needs adjustments methods to
minimize costs to bring better business results and profits for the company.
- In terms of profit:
The company maintains good annual profits compared to the current size of the
company. In the years 2017 and 2018, the profit only grew at an average of
669,011,428 (2017) and 921,303,549 (2018) and there was a dramatic increase in
2019 (1,118,216,675), indicating that the company is trending more and more
developing in their business.

In general, through the company's revenues, costs and profits, we can see that the
company has grown steadily over the years. The company also creates many
relationships with trusted partners and customers, builds increasingly good service
quality, operates effectively and becomes one of the reputable companies for its
partners. However, there is still an unevenness in the performance of each type of

service of the company, resulting in a profit difference in and will limit the long-term
development of the company. Therefore, the company needs to adjust and increase the
quality of its services even more.
1.4. Development orientation of the company
In the coming years, it is forecasted that there are still many difficulties and
challenges, QV Trans will continue to persistently strive to overcome. In the
immediate future, in 2020, because of the widespread disease problem and
complicated changes, it has significantly affected the import-export industry and
transport business in general, as well as Quoc Viet company in particular. So company
will strive to improve our operational capacity, competitiveness, and promote our
strengths, towards our customers with professionalism in the organization of activities,
diversity in products and services, unique enthusiasm in service style. Besides,
consolidating the achievements gained in the field of international freight by sea and
air.

CHAPTER 2: ANALYZING THE OPERATIONAL PROCESS OF THE
COMPANY
2.1. Introduction to dangerous goods
2.1.1. Generalize and classify dangerous goods
Dangerous goods are commodities that posses potentially dangerous
characteristics, articles or substances which are capable of posing a risk to health,
safety, property or the environment and which are shown in the list of dangerous
goods in these (IATA Dangerous Goods) Regulations or which are classified
according to the Regulations. These characteristics will not make their transport by air
dangerous, provided that suitable precautions are taken. Dangerous goods consist not
only of obvious substances such as acids, explosives and poisons, but also include less
apparent articles like magnets, refrigerants and some everyday household items such
as bleaches, aerosols and perfumes.
Dangerous goods are divided into 9 classes reflecting the type of risk involved.
There are listed in DGR. Classes 1, 2, 4,5 and 6 are divided into "Divisions" due to

hazard variations within these classes. Classes are expressed by single-digit numbers.
Divisions are expressed by 2-digit numbers. The first digit identifies the Class number
and the second identifies the variation within that class.
Each class or division has specific criteria that used to determine whether an article or
substance belongs to the class or division. These criteria are technically detailed and
classification of an item requires specialist knowledge of the criteria. These classes
and a brief description are:

2.1.2. Some basic terms in shipping dangerous goods
 UN number / ID number:
UN numbers (United Nations numbers) are four-digit numbers that identify
hazardous materials, and articles (such as explosives, flammable liquids, oxidizers,
toxic liquids, etc.) in the framework of international transport.
ID numbers are also type of identification number used for hazardous substances
being offered for Air transport. If the substance has not been assigned a number in the
UN classification system, a temporary identification number in the 8000 series has
been assigned and is indicated where appropriate. Numbers in the 8000 series must be
identified with the “ID” prefix instead of when UN is indicated or markings and
documentation in DGR. Ex: ID 8000, Consumer commodity does not have a UN
number, and is classed as a Class 9 hazardous material.
 Packing, marking and labelling:
Packing Group:
Dangerous goods must be packed in good quality packagings which are constructed
and so closed as to prevent leakage from any package. They must be able to withstand

normal conditions of air transport including vibration and changes in temperature,
humidity or pressure.

For packing purpose, some classes of dangerous goods are assigned to a packing
group depending upon the degree of danger they represent:
- Packing Group I – high danger
- Packing Group II – medium danger
- Packing Group III – low danger
Marking and labelling:
Packages containing dangerous goods are normally identified with specific marks
and special hazard labels, intended to alert you to risk inherent to the contents. Correct
marking and labelling of dangerous goods packages is an important element in the
safe transport process. Marks and labels fulfill following general purpose:
- they indicate the contents of the package;
- they indicate that the packaging meets approved standards;
- they provide safe handling and stowage information;
- they indicate the nature of hazard(s).

Picture 0.2. Example UN Specification Mark

 Material Safety Data Sheet:
A material safety data sheet is a technical document which provides detailed and
comprehensive information on a controlled product related to:
- health effects of exposure to the product
- hazard evaluation related to the product’s handling, storage or use
- measure to protect workers at risk of exposure
- emergency procedures.
The data sheet may be written, printed or otherwise expressed, and must meet the
availability, design and content requirements. The legislation provides for flexibility
of design and wording but requires that a minimum number of categories of
information be completed and that all hazardous ingredients meeting certain criteria

be listed subject to exemptions granted under the Hazardous Materials Information
Review Act.
The Purpose of the Data Sheet: intended to supplement the alert information
provided on labels and education of employees in hazard information on controlled
products, including instruction in the content and significance of information on the
MSDS.
An MSDS sheet is a nine-section safety document detailing the information such
as product name, ingredients, manufacturing company, toxicity, use, storage, handling
and emergency procedures of hazardous substances,...MSDS is the responsibility of
suppliers to help workers, customers take precautions when contacting with harmful
chemicals. MSDS is required, must comply with and can be consulted from many
reputable sources.

transport documents, include: the air waybill and the Shipper’s Declaration for
Dangerous Goods (DGD).
The main purpose of the DGD is for the shipper to provide critical information to

transportation industry. This standard is part of the IATA DGR .
Section 8 of the IATA DGR begins with the statement: “A Shipper’s Declaration
must be completed by the shipper for each consignment of dangerous goods.” The
DGD must be signed and dated by the shipper. Other persons employed to act on
behalf of the shipper such as consolidators, freight forwarders, and cargo agents may
sign the DGD on behalf of the shipper.
