 ADJECTIVES AND ADVERBS
Not change the meaning
- quick – quickly
Adv = Adj + ly
Ex: fluent – fluently, complete – completely, wasteful – wastefully
Notes:
- Adj_y => Adj_i + ly: happy => happily
- Adj_ll => Adj_ll + y: full => fully
- Adj = Adv: fast, late, early
- Adj_ly: early, lovely, lively
- good (adj) => well (adv)
Activity 1. Change the adjectives into adverbs. Then use the adverbs to complete the sentences.

 BECAUSE – AS – SINCE
Activity 2. Join the pairs of sentences together. Use because, as or since.
(Kết hợp các cặp câu lại với nhau. Sử dụng because, as hoặc since.)

b. Nam has a broken leg because/ as/ since he fell over while he was playing basketball.

e. Mai wants to go home because/ as/ since she feels sick.
f. Nga is hungry because/ as/ since she hasn't eaten all day.
 ADJECTIVE + THAT CLAUSE
Example: He said “I’m disappointed that people have spoiled this area.”
Activity 3. Complete the dialogues . Use the words in brackets.

c) Lan: I'm sorry that I have broken your bicycle.
Tien: Don’t worry. I can fix it.
d) Liz: I forgot to tell you I was going to Lan’s place.
Mr. Robinson: I'm disappointed that you didn't phone me.

 CONDITIONAL SENTENCE: TYPE 1
Example: If we pollute the water, we will have no fresh water to use.
1. Form:
If + S + present simple, S + modals (will, must…) + V
2. Use:
- To express actions that can happen at present or in the future
Activity 4. Match each half-sentence in column A with a suitable one in column B.

1 - e: If we pollute the water, we will have no fresh water to use.
2 - a: If you cut down the trees in the forests, there will be big floods every year.
3 - c: If there is too much exhaust fume in the air, more and more people will cope with respiratory
problems.
4 - d: If you can keep your neighborhood clean, you will have an ideal place to live.
5 - b: If people stop using dynamite for fishing, a lot of sea creatures will be well preserved.

Activity 5. Complete the sentences.

e) If we keep our environment clean, we'll live a happier and healthier life.
