Vietnamese couples now get married to the person they love. There are no longer arranged
marriages as in the past. Basically, Vietnamese wedding include the proposal ceremony, the
engagement ceremony and the wedding ceremony. Generally, the date and time for all the
ceremonies will be decided by a fortuneteller. However, people who do not believe in
fortunetellers may decide the date and time on their own. The expenses of the wedding are
normally covered by the bride’s and groom’s parents. As a rule, guests who are invited to the the
wedding ceremony will give money placed in an develop to the bride and groom as presents.
After the wedding ceremony, newly married couples often go on a honeymoon.
