COMMISSIONING AND INTEGRATION SERVICES
It’s often said that the keys to success in telecommunications are
improving customer loyalty and revenue growth while reducing costs;
that the provider who can attract and retain customers, bundle
attractive new services and decrease overall costs will succeed where
others fail. Effectively managing in an increasingly complex network
environment requires technical expertise and a strong focus on
results. Time to market is a critical element in this success, as faster
service deployment increases competitiveness.
ADC’s commissioning and integration services ensure the rapid
deployment of network elements. ADC provides a single turnkey
solution that helps to reduce costs and the time it takes to deliver
new services, regardless of equipment type, platform or service. We
rapidly and efficiently incorporate current and next-generation equip-
ment into wireless, fixed wire and cable networks. We simplify even
the most complex of network integration projects, and in the process
cut the time it takes to deploy new services. And less deployment
time means faster time to revenue.
Our 20 years of experience with multivendor, multitechnology and
multiservice networks, along with expertise with equipment from
more than 60 network equipment manufacturers, makes ADC the
ideal services partner for applications that include:
• Optical transport

• FTTx
• Voice over IP
• High-availability broadband networks
• Resilient packet ring networks
• Wireless networks
• Data centers
• Disaster recovery
• Technology migration

COMMISSIONING AND INTEGRATION
SERVICES FOR NETWORK DEPLOYMENTS
COMMISSIONING AND INTEGRATION SERVICES
ADC uses a proven multiphase process to identify, define and deliver network capacity.
DEFINING
As nearly all network upgrades are unique,
the discovery phase helps both the service
provider and ADC understand and document
the application and design for the network
deployment and integration. This upfront
process ensures that the network integration
plan will meet the specific needs, and that
the investment will bring new revenues to the
operator as quickly as possible.
PLANNING
Based on the discovery process, ADC devel-
ops a scope of work that includes:
• Site identification
• Deliverable requirements
• Key project milestones
• Methods of Procedures (MOP)

• Test specifications
• A checklist for integration tests
• A quality plan
• The documentation requirements for
final project completion
• A communication and escalation plan
• A change-order management plan
IMPLEMENTATION
To get all the network elements ready for
service, ADC’s commissioning and integration
engineers:
• Install the plug-in modules
• Verify the power-on sequence
• Manage the IP addressing
• Load and verify the operating software,
configuration files and parameters
• Establish network center
communications
• Perform local and remote continuity,
loopback and alarm testing
• Measure and adjust the signal
performance
• Perform integration and soak testing
of the interoffice and intraoffice
network elements
• Validate the network readiness
• Provide customer documentation
DEFINING – PLANNING – IMPLEMENTATION
Testing is a critical stage in this process.
Carriers’ standards are very stringent and

require the use of high-end test sets to
absolutely ensure the equipment is ready for
live operation. ADC has the technicians, tools,
and experience for:
• Network management system tests
• Optical interface tests
• Perform measurement tests, including:
- Analysis of network performance by
simulating abnormal conditions and
inserting various errors and alarms
- Performing bulk payload testing on
circuits at DS0 to OC192 rates
- Performing in-service monitoring
of the circuit under test to ensure
quality of service
- Bit Error Rate Testing
• Synchronization integrity verification,
which includes verifying proper network
timing by measuring jitter at DS1 and
DS3 tributary interfaces
• Protection switching tests
• Testing far-end loop back (required to
confirm that channels can carry
provisioned traffic between end points)
• Testing graduated loop back (recommend-
ed for locating faults without removing or
replacing network equipment)
• Multiservice testing for:
-ATM
- SONET

- H323
- IEEE802.3x
- 802.P
- 802.3Q
- 802.3ac
- GR-303
- FICON
- ESCON
- Fiber Channel
- Gigabit Ethernet
- Fast Ethernet
- ISDN
- Decode protocol messages
- DWDM/CWDM
- DSLAM
- BSC/BTS
