2. Listen to a conversation between two friends about their travel experience. Fill each

Nick and Thomas spent one month travelling the (1) ______ Road, which is in China. It was
opened more than 2,000 years ago. What is special is that they didn’t travel by car but they

Rebecca Owen. I am the mother of 5 teenagers, so obviously I feel I can get on well with
teens. My passion is teaching, inspiring and challenging children to love learning. I am a
lifelong learner myself. I have a degree in Teaching English as a Second Language and a
Masters in Leadership and Curriculum Development. I’m also extremely proud to share that
I am an army veteran. Currently my specialty is identifying gifted or talented students to
enhance their potential.

Thomas Brown. I have had the pleasure of teaching in language centers for the past thirty
years. I received my teaching credential from the University of California at Riverside. I
have had special training in early literacy development and in cognitively guided instruction
in mathematics through our district. My hobbies include traveling, cooking, and
snorkeling. I look forward to a great year teaching your children. I love to incorporate plays,
art, and music in my curriculum.

Julia Finn. I have been teaching for nineteen years in Asia, and I count each year as a
blessing! Teaching isn't just a job; it's a mission. Our main goal as teachers is to teach the
basic academic skills, and I also believe it's important for children to develop good moral
character, respect for authority, and respect toward their peers. When I'm not teaching, I
enjoy reading, bowling, journal and poetry writing, brisk walks on the beach, and collecting
rocks and fossils.

A freelancer is a self-employed person who is not necessarily committed to a particular
employer long-term. There are many reasons why independent work is on the rise, but two
things have mainly fueled the trend.

These days, devices, apps, and other personal technology let us communicate with one
another from virtually everywhere. But there’s another kind of technology that plays even a

CO-WORKING SPACES IN MAJOR CITIES

resources. They also create a collaborative ambience you’d find at any cutting-edge
company. Vietnam is not behind in this trend with booming spaces like Toong,

Hanoihub,WORK Saigon etc.

There are around 360 to 400 million people speaking English as the first language. They
come from countries like the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Ireland, New
Zealand...

native language. Next are Australia, South Africa, Ireland, and New Zealand with 4.7%,
1.3%, 1.2% and 1% respectively. The rest of the world has the rest 5.6% of the number of

English native speakers.

Although English has fewer native speakers than Chinese, if you combine the total number
of native speakers and non-native speakers, English is still the most widely spoken language
in the world.
