Some notes for this lesson
- Ss have an advanced-level vocabulary, but they may have difficulty pronouncing them
clearly.
- Ss have already learnt how to identify the differences between voiced and unvoiced
sounds
- By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to improve pronunciation by focusing on the
difficult sounds /Ө/
Presentation
Sound /Ө/
- Say the sound alone and write it on BB: /Ө/
- Say the sound in words: thumb, my thumb
- Conduct repetition individually
- Conduct repetition chorally
- Explain how to make the sound: making the sound /Ө/ let you tongue come out
between your upper and lower teeth, then bite down slightly and push the air out. You
will hear the unvoiced sound /Ө/
- Contrasting sound: sing – thing

Listen to the word. Say one if you hear it has sound /Ө/; say two if you hear it has sound /δ/
