I. Present simple to talk about general truths
- It is used to express an action which is always
true


<b>1.To be :</b>


<i>Aff. : He /she / it / singular N + is</i>
I + am


<i> We / you / they /plural N + are</i>
Neg. : “am/is/are” + not


Inter. : Is/Am/ Are + S ...?
<b>2.Ordinary verbs :</b>


<i>Aff. : He / she / it / singular N + V/s-es.</i>
<i> I / We / you / they / plural N + V-inf.</i>


<i>Neg.: He / she / it / singular N + doesn’t +</i>
<i> I / We / you / they / plural N + don’t +V</i>
Inter. : Do / Does + S + V ?


<b>3. To have :</b>


 Aff.<i> : He / she / it / singular N + has</i>
<i> I / We / you / they / plural N + have</i>
 Neg . : S + do / does + not + have.


 Inter. : Do / does + S + have ?


*Uses :express a habit. (always, usually. Often,
<i>sometimes, rarely, seldom, never, …</i>


<b>II. Past simple :</b>

<i> We / you / they / plural N + were</i>
<b>2.Ordinary verbs :</b>


 Aff.<i> : S + V-ed/2</i>


 Neg.<i> : S + didn’t + V(inf.)</i>
 Inter.<i> : Did + S + V(inf.) ?</i>

Note: The past simple tense is usually used with


<i>yesterday, last (year), ago, in + ..</i>


T reminds students note the adverbs that are used
in present simple (every/ always/ usually..), past
simple ( last/ ago/ yesterday..)


<b>III. (not) adjective + enough + to – infinitive</b>
<b> S + V(s/es) + enough + N + (for s.o) + to V</b>
<b>S + V + adv + enough (for..) + to V</b>


Enough stands after adj and adv but before N
Example : She is old enough to see that film .
She is not clever enough to this thing.
