<b> Period 1: Part 1, 2, 3</b>
<b>I. Objective: </b>


<b>1. Language focus:</b>


<i>- By the end of the lesson Ss can recognize and pronounce the letter Zz and its </i>
sound.


<i>- Understand, recognize and say the three Zz words.</i>
<i>- Write the letter Zz. </i>


<i>- Vocabulary: zoo, zebra, zip.</i>
<i>- Sight words:Look a…</i>


<b>2. Skill: Listening, speaking, reading, writing.</b>


<b>3. Attitude: Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary.</b>
<b>II. Teaching aids: </b>


- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the chant.
<b>III. Method:</b>


- Model – Talk - Practice, individual work, pair work, group work.
- Some techniques can be used: music chairs, find it

<b>2. Warm up (5’) </b>


<i><b>Activity: Make up words </b></i>


- T put up the phonics cards from the previous unit on the board
- Write the following letters on the board: g, t, y, r, e, o, c, a, l, w, u
- Ask them to write down the words they can make up


- Tell the student to refer to the phonics cards for help.


- After a limited time, ask the students to say out the words they made up

- Instruct students how to pronounce the letter
name and the letter sound by saying: “This is the

- Ask Ss repeat several times and check students’
pronunciation.


<i>- T use the phonics cards with zoo, zebra, zip read </i>
the words out loud and have students repeat.

- T uses gestures to help students to understand the
meanings of the three words.


- Stick the cards on board and have students repeat
the words chorally several times (in the correct
order and then in any order).


- Call some students to say the words out loud and
correct their mistakes.


- Ss say the words out loud.


- Ask the students to colour in the letters.
- Ss colour in the letters.


<i><b>Activity: Which One Is Missing?(3’)</b></i>



- T put the phonics cards face up on the table/stick
them on the board (may use some cards from the
previous lessons)


- Give the students 10 seconds to look at the cards.
- Have students close their eyes and then you take
away one cards.


- Tell the students to open their eyes and name the
missing cards


<i><b>Activity 2: Listen and point. Colour (7’)</b></i>
<i>- T points to the van and say: Look. A zoo.</i>
- Have students listen and repeat.


- Have students look at the book and listen to the
<i>words: zoo, zebra, zip.</i>


- T asks students listen and repeat the words for
several times.


- Repeat with the rest of the items in random
order.


- Ask the students to look at the pair of pictures on

- T put up the lyris of the chant on the board.

<i>to sing the chant with van. Do the same with </i>
<i>umbrella and ugly. </i>

- Ss listen, chant and T give feedback.
- T ask Ss to write the chant in to note book.
- Ss write the chant in their notebook.

<i><b>Activity 2: Memory game(5’)</b></i>


- T put up the cards on the board and ask the Ss to
memorize the order in which the items appear.
- Ask Ss to close their eyes and remove the cards.
- Change the cards and repeat the activity.
