A motion picture is a series of protographs which is shown very quickly on a screen. This
gives us the feeling of movement. A modern movie has twenty-four photographs per
second. Today, motion pictures are the most popular kind of intertainment. People all over
the world enjoy films veryday at the cinema or in the comfort of their living room on TV or
on video. Many motion pictures are more than intertainment, because they teach us
different things. First of all, they introduce us to new ideas. Secondly, they help us learn

Passage 2:
The world “telephone” means hearing the sound produced at the distance. The telephone
was invented mare than one hundred years ago by Alexander Graham Bell, an American. It
is now widely used everywhere. In Vietnam, most of the people have their own telephones
in their homes. It makes us possible to talk to our friends far away without all the way to
their homes.
In working it seems to be simple. It has a transmitter into which you speak and a receiver at
which you hear. And these two are now combined in the same small instrument, one at
each end. The two people who want to speak have each an instrument.
Its working is wonderful, though simple. Two people can now carry on a conversation with
each other while both are on their chairs. There is no need now to leave your house to talk
to a friend on any business. It saves time, trouble and money.

Passage 3:
Camping holidays are always popular with students and young people. They are very cheap
and easy ways to see a country. People pften travel by train, coach or on foot, so one thing
is important to remember before starting: you can take with you what you can carry usually
in a rucksack on your back.
If you travel with a friend, of course, some items can be shared: a tent, a gas stove and
food. Other things must be taken by each person: clothes, footwear and a sleeping bad.
Many people who go camping for the first time take too much anf then find they have
forgotten the essentials – a tin of beans is no good withouta tin opener! But with pratice
and good advice you can have a fantastic holiday.
