UNIT 13: WHERE’S MY BOOK ?

LESSON

2 : PART 1,2,3

Class : 4A, 4B

Date of teaching : 24/2/2017

I. Aim: By the end of the lesson,Ss will be able to practice asking and answering
questions

about the location of things in the house (plural).

II.Language contents:

a.Vocabulary: near, table, wall, behind

b.Sentence pattern: Where are the chairs? They're near the table.
c. Skill: listening , speaking and writing.

III.Techniques: rub out and remember, asking and answering

IV. Resource and teaching aids:
 - Resource: Book page 20.

- Teaching aids: Cassette, pictures, extra paper.

V.Procedure:

1. Warm-up( 5 minutes)

@Play game: asking and answering.

A- Where's the book? B - It's on the desk.
A- Where's the pen? B- It's o next to the book.

2. Presentation:(10 minutes)

T explain the new words.

- near (translation): gần - behind (translation): phía sau
- wall (explanation): bức tường - table (picture): cái bàn

- door (picture) : cửa ra vào

* Game: rubout and remember

T review grammar: Where’s the + danh từ (số ít)

Ss listen and take notes.

@ Explain sentence pattern: Where are the + danh từ (số nhiều)

Where are the chairs? They're near the table.

3. Practice:(13 minutes)

1- Look, listen and repeat (page 20)

Check comprehension and give feedback. Ask ss to repeat the text a few times.
Repeat the procedure with second picture.

- Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking.
- Play the recording for ss to listen and say along.

2 - Point and say.

- Tell pupils that they are going to asking and asnwering the question Where are 
the + danh từ (số nhiều)

- Give a few seconds for ss to look at the first picture and read the text. Teach the
new vocabulary and have Ps repeat each of the words a few times. Point to picture
a and prompt Ps to say the question and answer. Put the questions and answer on
the board and have ss repeat each of them a few times. Repeat the procedure with
the remaning pictures.

- Do choral and individual repetition, using the pictures in the book.
- Get pupils to practise in pairs. Check as a class.

*Key:

1.Where are the chairs ?
They’re near the table.
2. Where are the balls ?
They’re under the bed

3. Where are the posters?
They’re on the wall.
4. Where are the coat ?

They’re behind the door.
4. Personalization:(6 minutes)

- Ask Ss to practice speaking with their friends.

5. Homework:(1 minute)

- Learn by heart: new words, sentence.

- Prepare: Unit 13(cont): Lesson 2 (cont): page 21

I. Aim: By the end of the lesson,Ss will be able to practice asking and answering the
question about the location of things in the house (plural).

II.Language contents:

a.Vocabulary: photo

b.Sentence pattern: There is a ball. // There are three balls.
c. Skill: listening , speaking and writing.

III.Techniques: Jumbled words,

IV. Resource and teaching aids:
 - Resource: Book page 21.

- Teaching aids: pictures, extra paper, cards.

V.Procedure:

1. Warm-up( 5 minutes)

@Play game: Jumbled words (names)

a- blal====> ball b- ebd ====> bed
c- oepstr====> poster d- hirac ====> chair

2. Presentation:(7 minutes).

T explain the new words.
- photo (picture): bức ảnh

T review grammar. Ss listen and take notes.

@ Explain sentence pattern: There is a ball. // There are three balls
3. Practice:(16 minutes)

4- Listen and number (page 21)

- Tell pupils that they are going to listen and tick the correct boxes. Give a few
seconds for pupils to look at the pictures. Check understanding by eliciting the
names of the school facilities and give feedback.

- Play the recording three times for ss to listen, do the task and check their answers
- Get pupils to swap and check their answer before checking as a class.

5- Read and complete.

- Tell pupils that they are going to read the sentences and fill the gaps. Give pupils
the meaning of the words asks Ss read the text in silence. Check comprehension
and give feedback.

- Give pupils time to do the task. Go around to offer help, if necessary.

- Get pupils to swap and check their answers before checking as a class. Write the
correct answers on the board for pupils to copy down into their notebooks.

- Call a few pairs to read the completed sentences aloud .

*Answers:

1- It is on the bed. 2- They are under the bed.
3- They are near the desk. 4- They are on the desk.

5- They are on the wall
4. Personalization:(6 minutes)

6- Write about your bedroom (page 21).

Tell ss that they are going to read and write some facts about their own rooms.Give
a few seconds for ss to read the text.

Check comprehension and give feedback.

- Give pupils time to do the task. Go around to offer help, if necessary.

- Get pupils to swap and check their answers before checking as a class. Write the
correct answers on the board for pupils to copy down into their notebooks.

5. Homework:(1 minute)

- Learn by heart: sentences.

- Prepare: Unit 13(cont): Lesson 3 page 22
