Aims : - By the end of the lesson, the students are able to express gratitude. - By the end of the lesson, the students are able to respond to thanks. II. Teaching aids: - textbook - Handouts - chalk - cards IV. Techniques : - skill-based ( listening, speaking) V. Procedures : State/time Teacher’s and students’ activities Blackboard 1. warmGames: ‘Flashing the cards’ up -Put the class into groups , A & B (7’) -Hold these expression cards, one at a time , 1. N_PROB_ _M and flash in as quicly as possible 2.NEV _R M_ ND -The groups then take turns to work out the 3.N_T AT _ LL expression. If the correct answer is give ,the 4.Y_ _ ‘RE W _ _ C _ ME groups get 5 points. Responding to thanks -Have SS repeat saying these expressions after T. -Assign individual students to say the expressions. -Make any necessary corrections. ( Appendix2 ) -Put SS into pairs. -Within pairs ,SS practice expressing gratitude and responding to thanks based on the situations in the picture.( Task b, textbook, p.50) - Assign some pairs to role-play the dialogue in front of the whole class - Make corrections in terms of pronunciation and grammar Listening: -read out mixed expressions of gratitude and responses to thanks. -Have SS listen and sound out ‘G’ or ‘R’. 5.
