This thesis is concerned with the incorporation of English cultural elements intoEnglish training with the Comparing - Contrasting approach at Haiphong CommunityCollege. More specifically, consideration is given to the why and the how of teachingculture for Tourism students. It is proved that teaching a foreign language is not onlyfocusing on teaching syntactic structures or new vocabulary and expressions, but mainlyshould incorporate some cultural elements, which are overlapped with language itself. Theauthor made an attempt to incorporate English culture elements into HCC classes by meansof considering some activities currently used in the light of communicative languageteaching. Effective communicative is more than a matter of language proficiency and, apartfrom enhancing and enriching communicative competence, cultural competence can alsolead to empathy and respect toward different cultures.
