Lesson 1: Getting started & listen and read
I Aims:
-By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to listen and read the conversation
about their meeting at the airport.
- To practice the dialogue in groups and to make the sentences true or false.
-To develop listening and reading skills.
-To educate Ss to enjoy learning E. 8 and to use English to communicate with
foreigners
II. Language content:
- “-ed and _ing participles”
- requests with: “ – would / do you mind….?
 - would / do you mind if….
III. Teaching method:
-Pairs work, groups work, intensive reading and communicative method.
IV. Teaching aids:
- Lesson plan E.8, textbook, tape and cassette...
V.Procedure:
Teacher’s activities
1. Getting started.(7’)
T asks Ss to look at the pictures on page
98, textbook.
T asks Ss to work in pairs to match the


places of interest in Vietnam with their
names.
T comments and goes on new lesson.

2. Listen and read.(33’)
2.1 Presentation.
T sets the scene to Ss.
T supplies vocabulary on the board to Ss
Students’ activities
Ss:
- Look at the pictures.
- Work in pairs.

Ss: Listen to T’s introduction.

Mr Jones, Shannon and Mrs Jones.
T asks Ss to work in groups to do the
exercise 2 on page 99.
T moves around class to help the weaker
pairs or groups.
T comments and corrects the mistakes to

T asks Ss to repractice reading the
dialogue aloud in front of class.
