a. So sánh đồng tiến (càng……..càng):

-

diễn đạt sự cùng thay đổi (tăng thêm hoặc giảm đi về số lượng hoặc mức độ) của sự việc.

Ex: The bigger the room is , the better I feel.

3. The active and passive causatives
* Active:

4. Reported speech: Động từ nguyên mẫu trong lời nói gián tiếp
- Khi lời nói trực tiếp là lời đề nghị, mệnh lệnh, ý định, lời hứa, ...khi chuyển sang câu gián tiếp sử dụng động từ tường thuật

4.1. Phrases and clauses of result.

4.2. Phrases and clauses of reason.(Cụm từ và mệnh đề chỉ lý do)
a. Phrases of reason:
* Form:
...because of + N/ Noun phrase/ Gerund phrase.
Note: Because of cã thÓ thay thÕ cho due to.
b. Phrases of reason = Adverbial clauses of reason (MÖnh đề trạng ngữ chỉ lý do)
* Mệnh đề trạng ngữ chỉ lý do thờng đợc nối với mệnh đề chính b»ng c¸c tõ nèi: BECAUSE, SINCE, AS
(Lu ý : Since và As thờng đợc đặt ở đầu câu)
* Form:
Because/Since/As + S + V.
Since (conjunction): v× lÏ r»ng, bëi /As (conjunction):

*Note: Khi ®ỉi mƯnh ®Ị sang cơm tõ, nÕu 2 chđ ng÷ gièng nhau ta cã thĨ dïng "Gerund
Phrase".

4.3. Phrases and clauses of concession. (Cơm tõ vµ mệnh đề chỉ sự nhợng bộ)
a. Phrases of concession:
Cụm từ chỉ sự nhợng bộ thờng đợc bắt đầu bằng giíi tõ "In spite of" or “Dispite" (mỈc dï, cho dù)




Cấu trúc của cụm từ chỉ sự nhợng bộ là:
In spite of/ Despite + N /Noun phrase/ Gerund phrase.

+ Despite his physical handicap, he has become a successful businessman.
+ In spite of her bad grades, Jane will be admitted to the university.
* Mệnh đề có"Despite" hoặc " In spite of" có thể đợc đặt trớc hoặc sau mệnh đề chính.
b. Adverbial clauses of concession. (Mệnh đề trạng ngữ chỉ sự nhợng bộ)
* Là mệnh đề phụ chỉ sự tơng phản giữa hai hành động trong câu.
* Mệnh đề này thờng bắt đầu bằng những từ nối :"Although, even though, no matter, whatever (dï,
cho dï).

* Form:

5. Conditional sentences
