Leveraging a Full Suite of Ethernet and TDM Services to Cost-Effectively Utilize Fiber Networks
Carriers and enterprises are looking for inexpensive ways to utilize their infrastructures to take
advantage of the cost effectiveness of Ethernet transport and services. One area currently under
consideration is how to fully utilize fiber build-outs to continue to offer revenue-generating
services such as voice, and to add new packet-based services at the same time. The LoopStar 711
is a fixed configuration, multi-service access platform offering cost-effective and easy-to-manage
Ethernet and TDM-based services that allow for the full utilization of fiber networks.
The LoopStar 711 offers the complete suite of LoopStar 700 software, AC or DC power options,
patented T1/E1 circuit emulation, intelligent management and a mix of connectivity choices,
creating a multi-service access platform remarkably versatile for its price point.
The LoopStar 711 comes equipped with two 100Base-FX ports, four 10/100Base-T ports and two
T1/E1/J1 ports for circuit emulation services.
The LoopStar 711 is uniquely designed to offer fiber extension transport, as well as the services
that require this transport. Usually deployed at the customer premise, this product can create a
resilient infrastructure ideally suited for a variety of applications.
Applications
• Ethernet anywhere—extending Ethernet services to any size location
• Fiber extension—fully utilizing the maximum bandwidth of fiber cable plants
• Legacy services—providing carrier-class circuit emulation over a packet infrastructure
• MPLS to the edge—extending core services to any size location

Ethernet and Legacy Services for True Convergence
Providers of all sizes and types are worried about revenue cannibalization, losing revenues from one
type of service in order to add new services. With the LoopStar 711, providers can stop paying for a
separate T1/E1 service for voice transport and now carry these TDM services along with new services
such as Ethernet or Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) over a packet-based infrastructure to begin the
migration of their revenue streams.
Fiber Extension
With its two built-in 100Base-FX ports, the LoopStar 711 is the perfect multi-service solution for
providers looking to extend their footprints over fiber connections. This extension can now be used
to transport Ethernet traffic or circuit-emulated TDM traffic over the same uplinks.
The LoopStar 711 allows providers to leverage and extend their footprint by
delivering Ethernet and TDM-based services over existing fiber connections.
