I. AIMS

1. Knowledge

- By the end of this lesson, Ps will be able to use the words and phrases related to the
topic Dats and Birthdays; Ask and answer questions about someone’s birthday, using
When’s your birthday? It’s on the…….

- Sentence patterns: When’s your birthday? It’s on the…….

- Vocabulary: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September,
October, November, December.

2. Skills: Listening-reading-speaking-writing.

3. Attitude: Educate Sts to love their lesson. Work hard

1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette.

- T tell ps that they are going to read a story in which ps
ask and answer questions about birthdays, using When’s
your birthday? It’s on the……. .

- T ask ps to look at the pictures and read the text. Get
them to identify the characters and the setting of the
conversation by asking Who are they? What are they
saying? Check comprehension

- T play the recording more than once.
- Ps listen and repeat.

- Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the
charactors speaking.

- Play the recording again for ps to listen and repeat

a. Vocabulary

- T tell ps that they are going to practicse asking
answering questions about someone’s birthday.

- Ps look at the pictures and focus on the months and the
circled dates.

- T teach the months of year: January, February,
March, April, May, June, July, August, September,
October, November, December.

- Check comprehension.

- Ask Ps to repeat each word a few times

- Ask them to point to the picture ps say the date” the
first of January”

b. Model sentences

- Then let one ps ask “ When’ s your birthday?” and
other answers “ It’s on the first of January”

-T write Q&A on the board the class repeat them.

- Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the
pictures. Do choral and individual repetition and then
practice in pairs.

- Call a few pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the
class. Check as a class and correct pronounciation.

c. Practice

- Ask Ss to practise asking and answering the question
using the puppets as an example.

- Ask Ss to work in pairs to practise asking and
answering the question using the word under each
picture as a cue.

- Select some pairs.

* Activity 3: Let’s talk(7’)

- Tell ps that they are going to revise what they have
learnt in lessons 1 and 2. Remind ps the questions “
What is the date today?” “ When’s your birthday?” and
how to respond to them.

- Ps work in pairs and answer the above two questions.
- Remind them to use the real dates of their birthdays.
- Call a few pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the
class.

- Give them a few seconds to look at the pictures.

- Play the recording more than once.

- Ps to swap their answers before you check as a class.

- Tell Ps that they are going to write and answers to the
questions.

- Then tell them to look at the pictures to find the dates
of the children’s birthday.

b. While- writing

- Ask Ps to write the words for the dates

- Set a time limit for ps to do the task independently.
- Get ps to swap their answers before checking as a
class.

- Ask some pairs of ps to act out the dialogues in front
of the class

- Do choral and individual repetition of sound,
words and sentences untill ps feel confident.

- Get some ps to perform in front of the class.
Check as a class and correct the pronuonciation.

- Call a few ps to read aloud the completed
sentences.

birthday is and what his has from his friends.

- Ask them work in pairs or groups.
- Check understanding

- Give them time to do the task independently.
- Get some pair to ask and answer the questions.

* Activity 2: Write an invitation card(11’)

- Tell Ps that they are going write an invitation card to
invite friends to their birthday parties, using read
information about themselves.

- Ps work in pairs to discuss what they are going to
write.

- Focus them on the friendsthey can invite, the date of
party, the time of party and the dress where the party is
held.

- They should put their own names in the from line.
- Check comprehension.

- Give ps time to do the task independently.

- Get them to swap their answers before checking as a
class.

- Call one ps write the answers on the board.

- Encourage them to decorate their invitation cards and
ask the class to vote for the three best cards.

their friends.

- Prepare resourses like scissors, cards, rulers, coloured

- Put the following on the board as an example
