If you have been in Viet Nam without visiting Ha Long Bay, it means you know nothing about the
beauty of this country yet. This is a remark made by many tourists from all across the world on returning from
their Ha Long trips. Ha Long Bay is situated near Ha Long city in Quang Ninh Province, 180 km from Ha Noi.
Ha Long Bay covers an area of around 1,500 square kilometres with more than 1,000 named islands and several
thousands more unnamed islands.



Ha Long Bay is not only beautiful because of its big and small islands but also because of sets of natural
caves and grottos. From as early as the late 19th century, many Western tourists have set foot in these caves.
Astonished at the wonder of nature, they have given these caves and grottos strange and astounding names:
Sung Sot (Startled) and Ngac Nhien (Amazing). Ha Long Bay also attracts tourists from around the world
because of its beautiful beaches. In the months of summer, there are always thousands of tourists swimming,
sun-bathing and relaxing on the beach.
