(1)WEEK 1 (27/8-31/8). THEME ONE: ME AND MY FRIENDS. UNIT 1: GOOD MORNING. HOW ARE YOU?- LESSON 1 period 1 - part 1, 2 Objectives: Ss will be able to greet someone formally. Language focus: - Vocabulary: Morning, afternoon, evening - Sentence patterns: Good morning, Miss Hien. Resources: Student’s book - puppets- CD/ tape- Cassette player- Cards of English names. Procedure I. Warm- up . Greeting :T greets Ss : Hello. I’m Duong. Help Ss reply : Hello, Mrs Duong Do in few minutes with the whole class. II. Look, listen and repeat -Get Ss to open the book page 6 and look at the picture. Help them to identify the teacher and the pupils. Tell they are going to look at the dialogue and listen to the dialogue between Miss Hien and the pupils. .-T turns on the tape – Ss listen and point to the appropriate line in the book. Listen again and repeat (3 times ) -T writes the sentences on the board: Miss Hien: Good morning, boys and girls. Pupils: Good morning Miss Hien. T: call some pairs to read the dialogues before class..

(2) The whole class read aloud. III. Look and say -Ss look at the pictures page 6 and identify the characters in each picture. Ask pupils to identify what part of the day in each picture -Do the task with one pupil as an example Teacher: Good morning, Nam. Pupil : Good morning, Miss Hien -Ask pupils to work in pair, one pupil says the greetings and the other responses. Repeat the step, but this time ask pupils to swap their roles. - Call on some pairs to act out in front of the class. Teacher corrects if necessary. IV. Talk -Ss look at the pictures page 7 and identify the characters in each picture. Ask pupils to identify what part of the day in each picture - -Do the task with one pupil as an example -. Ask pupils to play the Slap the board game, using flash cards of good morning, good afternoon, good evening and good bye/ night. II. Listen and repeat -Get Ss to open the book page 8, look at the words morning, afternoon and remark “What will you notice?”.

(5) Tell Ss they are going to learn how to produce the sound of the letter ng in morning and n in afternoon Produce the sounds ng and n a few times and ask “what do you think about when you hear these sounds?” -Ss look at the picture and describe the situation Ss listen to the tape and read the dialogue. Listen again and repeat.(2 times). In pairs, Ss read the dialogue. Some pairs read before the class, the others listen and remark. III. Listen and number -Ss look at the pictures page 8 and identify the part of the day in each picture Give the task: We are going to listen to four dailogues and number the correct pictures. -Play the recording through for pupils to listen. - Play the recording again for pupils to do the task. -Play the recording again one more for pupils to check their answers. -Ask pupils to exchange their answers with their partners before reporting them to the class. -Announce the answers to the class . Provide explanations when necessary. IV. Follow up Help Ss do some exercises in the exercise notebook: Ex a (4), Ex a (5) V. Ask pupils to play the Slap the board game, using flash cards of good morning, good afternoon, good evening and good bye/ night. II. Read and tick. Get Ss to open the book page 9, identify the characters. Tell Ss they are going to read the sentences, get the information and tick the correct pictures. Ss read individually and do the task- T monitors and helps Have Ss trade their answers in pairs Call on some volunteers to report the answers- the others listen and comment Announce the answers to the class . Provide explanations when necessary III. Let’s play: Bingo Ask pupils to open their books on page 9. Tell pupils that they are going to play the Bingo game Teacher explains the rule Pupils play the game Encourage the winner IV .Follow up.

(7) Ask pupils to look for some words which contain the sound of the letters ng and some other words which contain the sound of the letters n (e.g. morning, afternoon, speaking, spoon, soon, evening). Ask them to make a table of two columns and write the words which contain the sound of the letters ng in one column and that of the letters n in the other V. (8) Tell Ss they are going to hear the dialogue between Mr Robot and Tom. Play the recording-Ss listen and read the dialogue. Listen again and repeat.(2 times). In pairs, Ss read the dialogue. Some pairs read before the class, the others listen and remark. Correct pupils’ pronunciation mistakes when necessary III. Look and say -Ss look at the pictures page 10 and tell them that they are going topractice answering the question How are you? in four different situations. Ask pupils to identify the people in each picture Do the task with one pupil as a model e.g.. Pupil: How are you, Miss Huong? Write. -Get Ss to open the book page 11 -Tell them they are going to complete the bubbles, using the expression( Good morning/ afternoon) in the yellow boxes Help pupils to identify each part of the day it is in each picture -Ss do individually .T monitors and helps. - Ss: work in pairs to trade their answers. - T: call somebody to read their answers before class. - The others listen and correct. - T: check and correct. - The whole class repeat the sentences. III. Let’s chant. -Ss look and read The Hello Song page 11 Tell them that they are going to sing the chant. Play the recording- Ss listen and read the chant. Listen again and repeat (2 times). Call on a group of 6, perform the chant. -Groupwork: Ss work in groups – T monitors and helps - Some groups sing before the class The whole class sings in chorus to reinforce the pronunciation. IV. Language focus: - Vocabulary: England, America, Australia, China, Japan - Sentence patterns: Where are you from? I’m from… Resources: Student’s book - puppets- CD/ tape- Cassette player. Procedure I. Warm- up . Pupils sing the chant on page 11 II. Look, listen and repeat. - Set the scene: Get Ss to open the book page 12 and ask: “¦Who’s this? What are they doing? ”. T concludes: We are going to hear the dialogue between Linda and Akio. -Use two puppets to present the situation. -T turns on the tape – Ss listen and point to the appropriate line in the book. Listen again and repeat (3 times ) -T writes the sentences on the board: -Linda: Where are you from? - Akio: I’m from Japan T: call some pairs to read the dialogues before class. Have Ss repeat the meaning, the usage, the form of the sentences T concludes and Ss write again..

Procedure I. Warm- up . Divide class into three rows and practice in chain drill to find out the best rows Structure: S1: Where are you from? - S2 : I’m from Japan. Ss look at the pictures page 13 and identify the characters and identify the name of the country in each picture. Ask pupils to role play Call on a pair to act out as a model e.g:. A: I’m Lan. Listen and repeat -Get Ss to open the book page 14 and identify the characters, what they are doing. -Elicit and teach the vocabularies: Vietnamese: người Việt Nam English. : người Anh. American : người Mĩ Australian : người Úc -Teach the new phrase: I’m Vietnamese T gives the sentence.- Ss repeat some times. T gives some more examples. Ask pupils to practice. Note:. I’m + từ chỉ quốc tịch. Tell Ss they are going to listen to the chant and pronoun correctly the sound of the letter ese as in Vietnamese, Japanese, and Chinese -Point the words, ask Ps to say them several times. - Play the recording -Ps listen to the tape and repeat the chant. (16) T prepares some sentences, divide the class into three groups. Each group chooses one monitor who will go to the board and choose the sentence for the group and then she/he will come back, whisper to the next. The last person will have to say aloud the sentence. Tell Ss they are going to read Akio’s letter to Nam – her pen friend in Vietnam and circle the correct answer.
