in a given situation. Next, you will analyze the data storage technology
selection in a scenario.

1. Participate in small groups as assigned by the instructor.
2. Read each scenario below.
3. Identify which data storage technology best meet the needs described in the


scenario.
4. Write your answers below.


After completing the above steps, you will discuss your responses with the
class. The instructor will write the class consensus on a flip chart.
Scenarios

A The goal is to develop an address book application that is easy to use.
File sizes are unimportant, but ease of use is paramount.
B A 200-user data entry system. A high data-entry rate is required.

Scenario
The company has developed a proprietary engine for accessing schedule
information from flat files. Each text file is stored on a network share and has
between 10,000 and 200,000 rows of data. Each row is 512 characters long.
