OBJECTIVES: Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to write a short paragraph describing a story happened in the past – a picnic in the countryside. II. Warm - up (7’) -Checking the old lesson: Ask Ss some questions: 1. Who is Van? 2. Who is he now living with? 3. Where are they? - New lesson: Chatting with Ss about going on a picnic. 1. Have you ever gone on a picnic? 2. When did you go? Where? 3. How did you get there? 4. What did you do? 5. When did you come back home? 6. Do you enjoy it? 2. Pre - writing (10’) - Have Ss look at the pictures and answer the questions. 1. Who are they? 2. Where did they go?. Students’ activities -Answer.. - Whole class. - Answer the questions.

While - writing (18’) - Have Ss read the cues given for each picture. - Have Ss pay attention to simple past tense. - Divide class into six groups, each group will write one picture. - Get the answers of six groups into a paragraph describing a picnic in the countryside. It was a beautiful day, my friends and I decided to go on a picnic. We took a bus to countryside then we walked about 20 minutes to the picnic site next to the river. We put down the blanket and laid out the food. After meal we played games” what song is it? and “blind man’s buff”. Late in the afternoon, we went fishing. We enjoyed our picnic. When we looked at the time, it was nearly 6.30 p.m. We hurriedly gathered things and ran to the bus stop. We were lucky to catch the last bus and we arrived home very late in the evening. 4. Post - writing (7’) -Have Ss play game: “What song is it?” Play some songs and Ss guess the name of the song.. - Write down. - Read the sentences - Listen to the teacher. - Group work - Write down the sentences. -Play game.. 5. Homework (2’) - Have Ss write the paragraph on their notebook Take note - Prepare next lesson: Unit 3: Language focus/ p. 28 IV.
