I. PG191 LCD Monitor Overview
The LCD monitor features high-quality audio technology, including a
detachable 15W ASUS Power Bass System and the most advanced SRS
TruSurround XT

sound effect which help provide vivid melody, enhancing
your audio enjoyment while you watch movies, play games, or listen to music!
The build-in 1.3 megapixel webcam on top of the LCD panel has both video

recording and snapshot functions, allowing you to capture images, create
videos, of hold a video conference! Besides, a host of user-friendly functions
such as the rotating swivel, adjustable tilt, and smart touch sensor buttons
facilitate the usage of the monitor, upgrading your work efficiency.

z Use this hotkey to switch to any of the five sound preset
modes( Standard Mode, Fighting Game Mode, Strategic Game Mode,
Theater Mode, Music Mode)

Sensor
z Touch this sensor to active the OSD (on-Screen Display) main menu.
z Touch this sensor to enter/select the item (function) highlighted while
the OSD menu is activated.
3. +/▲ Sensor
z Touch this sensor to increase the value of the function selected or move
to the next function.
z This is also a hotkey for Brightness adjustment.
4. –/▲ Sensor
z Touch this sensor to decrease the value of the function selected or
move to the previous function.
z This is also a hotkey for Volume adjustment.
5. Sensor
z Use this hotkey to switch to any of the five video preset modes
(Standard Mode, Theater Mode, Game Mode, Night View Mode,
Scenery Mode) with SPLENDID
TM
Video Intelligence Technology
z Exit the OSD menu or go back to the previous menu as the OSD menu
is active.
z Automatically adjust the image to its optimized position, clock, and
phase by touching the sensor for 2-3 seconds.

1. SRS On/Off button. Press this button to turn on/off the SRS sound effect.
2. USB 2.0 ports. These three Universal Series Bus (USB) port are available
for connecting USB 2.0 devices.
3. Microphone port. This port connects a microphone with a mini-plug
(3.5mm).
4. Headphone port. This port connects a headphone with a stereo mini-plug
(3.5mm).

Modes not listed in the table may not be supported. For optimal resolution,
we recommend that you choose a mode listed in the table above.

V. Disassembly & Assembly
1. Precaution
Please read the precautions as follows to prevent any damages to the LCD
monitor and also select the appropriate tools for disassembly and re-assembly.

 Make sure all power connection is removed. Be sure that the LCD monitor
is in power off status.

 Prepare soft cloth and sponge as working platform to place LCD monitor
horizontally.

 Hold LCD by the side carefully and DON’T touch or press panel directly.

 Remove all rings, watches and any other metal objects from your hands
which possible to cause scratch.


 Always wear a ground strap or anti-static glove to protect the parts from
static discharge. ESD (electro-static discharge) protection is required to
guarantee the safety of product and personnel.

2. Suggest Tools
Here are some tools that can be used for the LCD monitor’s service and repair.

Philips-head Screwdriver
Use a Philips-head screwdriver to fasten/remove the K- or B-typed screws

Gloves
To protect LCD Panel and your hand

P/N: (L) 16-003300131 (M) 16-003300130

C/D Disassembly Tool
Use C/D Disassembly Tool to open cosmetic cover and avoid scratch.

P/N: 13GV0400PZZZZ

Spacer Screwdriver
Use a spacer screwdriver to fasten/remove spacer screws or hex screws.
P/N: N/A

3. Disassembly Procedure
Information in this section is to perform the disassembly procedure of the LCD

monitor. Depending on the failures, replace the defective parts accordingly.

Asus PG191 LCD Monitor consists of various subsystems. This section
describes the procedures for LCD monitor disassembly. In addition, the
detailed disassembly procedures of individual subsystem will be provided for
your service needs.

The disassembly procedure consists of the following steps:

3.1 Stand Subsystem
1. Disconnect SUBWOOFER CABLE.


2. Remove 1 screw rubber on SUBWOOFER FIX RING.


3. Remove 1 screw on SUBWOOFER FIX RING to dismount.


4. Remove PROTECT WIRE RING.

5. Pull out the left side SUBWOOFER SIDE COVER.



6. Take out SPEAKER WOOFER.


7. Remove 1 piece of TAPE.



8. Unplug SUBWOOFER CABLE

9. Pull out SPEAKER WOOFER and SUBWOOFER CABLE.



10. Remove 4 screw rubbers on BACK COVER.


11. Remove 4 screws on the BACK COVER.

12. Pull up to dismount VESA COVER.

13. Pull up and then lift the HINGE to separate STAND SUBSYSTEM from
BACK COVER.

14. Remove 1 screw in the bottom to dismount BASE SWIVAL.


15. Remove 8 screws on BASE BOTTOM COVER, and then remove it.

16. Remove 4 screws on BASE TOP COVER.






17. Separate STAND form BASE PLATE.

3.2 Board Subsystem
Back Cover
1. Release 2 screw rubbers on BACK COVER.



2. Remove 2 screws on BACK COVER.



3. Use C/D disassembly tool to open all latches along edges of BACK
COVER.

4. Lift and remove BACK COVER.


Main Board Shielding
1. Remove 2 pieces of TAPE on MAIN SHIELDING.


2. Remove 7 screws on MAIN SHIELDING.



3. Remove 6 screws on DC-INPUT, DVI PORT and VGA PORT.

4. Pull down MIAN SHIELDING, and then open it, but do not remove it.


5. Unplug KEY BOARD CABLE, and then take it out of MAIN SHIELDING.





Main Board
1. Remove 3 pieces of TAPE.

2. Disconnect Power CABLE.



3. Open LVDS CABLE COVER, and then unplug LVDS CABLE carefully.




4. Disconnect USB CABLES and SWITCH BOARD CABLE.

5. Release 2 screws on HEAT SINK FIX MENTAL.


6. Pull down to dismount HEAT FIX MENTAL.


7. Remove 2 screws on HEAT SINK to dismount.



8. Remove 4 screws on MAIN BOARD, and then take it away.

9. Dismount MAIN BOARD.


Power Board
1. Unplug POWER BOARD CABLE and LAMP CABLES carefully.



2. Remove 6 screws on POWER BOARD.

3. Remove POWER BOARD.


USB Module

1. Remove 2 piece of TAPE.


2. Remove 1 TAPE.



3. Remove 3 screws on USB COVER to dismount.
