About This Chapter
When the installation is well prepared, install the cabinet. There are three modes
for installing the cabinet according to the floor of the equipment room.
Installation on the antistatic floor (refer to Chapter 3 "Installing a cabinet on
the antistatic floor")
Installation on the cement floor
Installation on the wooden floor (the same as the installation on the cement
floor)
This chapter guides you to install the cabinet on the cement floor. We recommend
reading OptiX OSN 3500 Intelligent Optical Transmission System Compliance
and Safety Manual. This helps you to ensure a safe and smooth installation.
The following table lists the contents of this chapter.

4.2 Positioning the Cabinet
This section describes how to position the cabinet on the cement floor. The
position varies with the number of cabinets and their layout.
4.2.1 Positioning a Cabinet Independently
Purpose
This procedure guides you to position a cabinet which is
installed independently.
Tools /Materials
Pencil
Ruler
Prerequisites
The cabinet and the accessories (including the support and
fixing pieces) have been transported to the site.
Required/As needed
Required if the cabinet is installed independently.
Caution
Read technical documents on construction before you mark the installation
position for the cabinet.
Step 1 Mark the reference point for installing the cabinet according to the construction
documents.
Step 2 Draw a 600 mm x 300 mm rectangle according to the reference point, and then
mark the central lines for the cabinet. See Figure 1.1.

4.2.2 Positioning a Cabinet Close to an Installed Cabinet
Purpose
This procedure guides you to position a cabinet close to an
installed cabinet.
Tools /Materials
Pencil
Ruler
Plummet
Prerequisites
The cabinet and the accessories (including the support and
fixing pieces) have been transported to the site.
Required/As needed
Required if the cabinet is installed close to an installed
cabinet.
Step 1 Use a plummet to determine and mark the side projective position of the cabinet
already installed.
Step 2 Draw the side outline for the cabinet to be installed according to the marks made
in step 1.
Step 3 Draw the front outline for the cabinet to be installed, according to the front outline
of the cabinet already installed. Then determine the installation reference point.
Step 4 Draw a 600 mm x 300 mm rectangle according to the installation reference point.
Then draw the central lines for the cabinet. See Figure 1.1.

Purpose
This procedure guides you to install the cabinet on the
cement floor.
Tools /Materials
Drill
Drill bit (Ф16)
Dust cleaner
Rubber hammer
M12 x 60 expansion bolts
Prerequisites
The bolt holes of cabinets are positioned.
Required/As needed
Required.
Caution
A dust catcher is recommended to remove the dust in the course of drilling. Clean
out the dust inside before measuring the depth of the holes.
Step 1 Drill holes on the marked positions. The depth of the four holes ranges from 52
mm to 60 mm.
Step 2 Remove the expansion tube and nut from the expansion bolt.
Step 3 Insert the guide rib on the expansion nut into the guide slot on the expansion tube.
Step 4 Put the expansion tube and nut vertically into the hole. See Figure 1.1.

Step 5 Drive the expansion tube completely into the floor with a rubber hammer.
Step 6 Repeat steps 2–5 to install the other three expansion tubes and expansion nuts.
Step 7 Prior to the cabinet installation, lay the insulation plates on the floor. Each cabinet
needs two plates. See Step 9Figure 1.1.
Step 8 Align the holes on the insulation plate with the fixing holes on the floor. See
Step 9Figure 1.1. Insulation plates can not extrude from the cabinet.
Step 9 Put the cabinets upon the floor. See Figure 1.1.

Step 10 Place a horizontal ruler at the cabinet top plane in two perpendicular directions to
check its horizontal level. If it is not leveled, level it by inserting washers at the
lower end. See Figure 1.1.
Caution
The washers for leveling purpose should be inserted between the insulation plate
and the floor. Insulation will not be effective if these washers are inserted between
the insulation plate and the cabinet.

Step 11 Put the spring washer and flat washer along with insulation covering onto the
M12 x 60 bolt.
Step 12 Insert the bolts vertically, through the lower frame of the cabinet and the hole on
the insulation plate, into the fixing hole on the floor. See Figure 1.1.
Figure 1.1 Inserting the bolts
Step 13 Tighten the bolts in turn crosswise.
Step 14 Use ground resistance metre to measure the resistance between the cabinet and the
floor.
If the measured resistance is more than 5 megaohm, it indicates an open
circuit, that is, insulation is perfect.

If the measured resistance is less than 5 megaohm, it means that insulation is
not sufficient. Remove all installation parts, and check whether there is no
insulation plate installed or whether it is damaged. Fix the cabinet and test
insulation again.

4.4 Checking the Cabinet Installation
The following requirements should be met when the cabinet is installed properly.
The installation position of the cabinet meets the requirements in the
engineering design drawing.
All bolts are installed correctly and firmly. The sequence for installing the
spring washer and flat washer is correct.
The cabinet should be kept upright, and the horizontal deviation shall not be
more than 3 mm.
The main walkway in the equipment room should be lined up with a deviation
less than 5 mm. The adjacent cabinets should be in line.
All bolts on the cabinet are equipped with flat washer and spring washer, and
all are screwed tight.
No part of the cabinet is distorted.
The exterior varnish and the marks on the cabinet should be kept intact, and
the marks and signs should be correct, clear, and complete.
The cabinet label is properly pasted on the cabinet.
