Task 1
The bar chart below shows the number of students who chose certain
university subjects in 2005.

The bar chart shows how many university students choose to study certain subjects
according to sex in 2005.
Most males select the Sciences about 22 thousand students and Mathematics about 18
thousands. About 15 thousands male students choose Social Sciences and Literature,
while approximately 5 thousands less opt for Humanities and Law. Very few male
students, less than 3 thousands study Languages and The Arts.
However, Social Sciences top the preferences of female students about 25 thousands, 17
thousand females choose to study Languages. There are between 9 thousands to 11
thousands female students in The Arts, Literature, Humanities and Sciences. Law and

Mathematics are the least popular subjects studied by females, 5 thousands and 4
thousands respectively.
To sum up, male students prefer the Sciences and Mathematics to Languages and the
Arts, while female students chose the Social Sciences and Languages. Law and
Mathematics are not popular choice for female university students.

Task 2
Chirldren should always follow their parents’ advice. To what extent
do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Parents want what's best for their children, so children should always listen to their
parents’ advice. But parents are not always right. In my opinion, I agree with this
statement in a half.
Firstly, parents know more than a child. They are more experienced and are much more
sensible. When parents shout their children, they do it for a reason and they are trying to
help children recognize the mistakes to correct. Secondly, parents are more experienced.
Moreover, they never give a harmful advice to their children, because they wish only

good things.
However, sometimes parents are not so clever and smart. Children are not robots that get
programed. Children should learn from their parents and then learn from the world
around them, so they can grow up with their feelings and ideas. Those are hopefully more
advanced than their parents’ advice.
Parents will probably not see problems and issues the way children see it. It becomes
hard for children to listen everything their parents say, because it may not always be right
in their opinion. The respect between parents and children should be mutual. Children
should respect their parents, and in return parents should also respect the opinions of the
children.
Conclusion, children should not listen to their parents at all time.
