Câu 1 (5 điểm):
“Free trade only looks to the short-term; fair trade looks at the bigger picture.”
How far do you agree with this statement? Write an essay to illustrate your
opinion.
Answer:
Free trade is a trade policy that does not restrict imports or exports. Free
trade essentially calls for more freedom within the international trade market. Fair
trade is an arrangement designed to help producers in growing countries achieve


sustainable and equitable trade relationships. In my point of view, I agree with the
ideal of “ Free trade only looks to the short- term; fair trade looks at the bigger
picture” because fair trade brings more lasting benefits to people and the planet
than free trade.
Firstly, fair trade provide all people including producers and workers,
consumers and citizens as political actors with equal advantages. Unlike free trade
with consumers’ advantages, fair trade gives better wages for producers because
they are protected from fluctuating market prices by earning a minimum price for

their goods. This grants them long-term stability and the chance to plan for their
future. Fair trade also lets small farmers make a living because they will not have
to face cheap price when there are many crops. With fair trade, consumers and
producers will have a fair price , this will develop more equitable trade
relationships in the long- term rather than free trade in which they boost the
economic growth of the country. Secondly, fair trade create better working
conditions and no child labor. Fair trade producers have safe working conditions,
free from dangerous chemicals and other harmful substances. By providing fair
wages for workers, fair trade also reduces the need for children in undeveloped
countries to work to support their families. In contrast, unhealthy working
condition often happen in free trade area in which lack labor protection laws, so
workers may be forced to work in unhealthy and substandard work environments.
Finally, fair trade allows for more equal distribution of wealth between undeveloped
and developed countries. Small entrepreneurs lack the support and accessibility to
gather their resources to produce their goods, so through fair trade these small scale
producers will be able to compete against the developing nations and make a

sustainable living.
In conclusion, free trade focuses on the reduction of barriers and policies
that favor certain countries or industries. Fair trade, however, favors the rights of
workers, improved working conditions and seeks to eliminate pay discrepancies
from country to country. Therefore, fair trade looks at the bigger picture- that is a
long- term economic with fair price, fair opportunity for everyone.

You work in the human resources section of a large company. Your
company is preparing a meeting to discuss how to deal with the problems below:
 More and more staff are taking time off work because of stress-related
problems.

 A large number of employees are suffering from headaches, backache and
chest pains because of overcrowded offices, poor ventilation, and badly
designed furniture and equipment.
 Some employees are depressed because they feel they have no control over
their work and are never involved in decision-making.
Write an essay to present suggested solutions for these problems.
Answer:
Every company has its own problems and big companies like us are no
exception. Recently, employees in the company have many problems with stress,
fatigue and even depression. Therefore, I would like to suggest some solutions
below.
Stress, as most people understand the term, is a reaction to excess pressure.

Recently, more and more staff are taking time off work because of stress-related
problems in the company. Employees who are suffering from work-related stress
can lead to lower productivity, lost workdays, and a higher turnover of staff. I
suggest that company should first find out the reason behind their stress by
consulting our staff. Talk to them about the specific factors that make their jobs
stressful. Sharing information with employees can also reduce uncertainty about
their jobs and futures. The company should also ensure they eat healthy with
useful and timely tips. And if possible we should build a canteen with good food
and provide the employees with free tickets for their lunch at the canteen. The
employee can eat together, it's great for team morale. Moreover, the company can
hold a yoga class for mind and body fitness for employees. Breaks for light
exercises at the office keep them physically and mentally fit. Meditation tips to
help them work multi-task better.
To the second problem, I suggest that the company should build a few more
rooms to minimize the overcrowding and at the same time create a spacious and
airy working environment for employees. The company also needs to review the
office equipment and improve it to suit the modern pace and needs of today's
employees. For example, office work requires employees to sit at computers a lot,

which leads to headaches and backaches of employees. Therefore, the company
should design comfortable seats, maybe massage chairs will be better. Air
conditioning and ventilation systems also need regular maintenance to ensure
employees have a fresh working space. In addition, office equipment such as
computer systems and printers also need to be upgraded so that employees can
work better and faster. These solutions are very practical, taking care of

employees, the company's work will be much better and more productive.
The third problem is related to depression of some employees. Depression
is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the
way you think and how you act. To help the employees deal with depression at
workplace I would suggest some solutions. The company should allow a flexible
schedule because sometime the employees are also busy with their family.
Company should allow them when they ask for late some minutes or ask for
taking day off due to family or health condition,… Moreover, the main reason that
made the employees got depressed is that they have no control over their work.
This means their workload feels too overwhelming or complicated. I suggest that
the company should simplify work scope. We can help by breaking up large
projects into smaller tasks. The benefit of giving smaller, more manageable tasks,
is that it empowers employees to achieve more frequent experiences of success.
Besides, the company should also ask employees’ opinion in a meeting in order to
make a better decision. By asking for their opinion, they will feel that they are also
an important part in company and they are trusted by their boss or leader.  The
company should also have more reward policies for employees so that they have
more motivation to work.
To sum up, I hope these solution will help the employees and company
overcome these problem. From that, we can build a strong relationship between
employees, leaders and at the same time put a stronger foundation for the
company.
