Manages up to 56 HDSLx Circuits from One Stand-Alone Shelf
The HiGain Retrofit Management Shelf (HRM-238) is designed for outdoor remote cabinets such
as DLCs or Central Office (CO) environments. Hardened, NEBS3 and UL compliant, this two-slot,
1RU management shelf is the only product of its kind that can manage up to 56 HDSLx circuits
from one stand-alone shelf. Suitable for either 19- or 23-inch equipment racks, the HRM-238
accommodates up to two HiGain management units (HMU-319s). The management shelf
enables local and remote management of legacy and new HiGain line units in 220, 3192 (ADC,
Adtran, Charles Industry, Wescom) and Lucent DDM+ (Lucent, Larus) type shelves. Each HMU-
319 management unit in the HRM-238 shelf can manage up to 28 line units each. Up to 56
HiGain line units (two 3192, two DDM+, or four 220-type shelves) can be managed when both
slots of the HRM-238 shelf are populated. Up to 32 HMU-319 management cards can be hubbed
together and managed via the management shelf's 10Base2 interface on the same network.
Remote access is provided via RS-232, X.25, 10BaseT, or 10Base2 interfaces.
FEATURES
• 50-pin Amp-type connector for connection between the management units in the HRM-238
shelf and previously unmanaged HiGain line units (one wire per line card slot) in 220, 3192, or
DDM+ mechanics shelves
• DB-25 and DB-9 connectors for connection to a computer, terminal, modem, or ThinMux (M13)
• 10BaseT (RJ-45) and 10Base2 (BNC) LAN connectors for remote network management
• Screw-type terminals for A and B -48 Vdc power connection and grounding
• Wire-wrap pins to monitor alarm relay activity (46 total, 23 per HMU)
• OSP hardened with an operational temperature range -40° C to +65° C
• 19-inch or 23-inch rack mount with variable recess
• Compact, stackable, horizontally ventilated, 1RU height design
• NEBS3 Compliant
• UL-60950 Compliant
