1.LOCATION
Saola lives in the
Annamites mountains
in Vietnam (Annamites
Mountain). Saola was
discovered by scientists
in 1992, in Vu Quang
National Park. Later,
Saola was found in
many other parts of the
forest in Laos.
Size & weight
❯ Size and Weight: Saola is
about 1.3 to 1.5 meters
long, 90 cm high and
weighs about 100 kg. Saola
has dark brown skin, on
each nail has a white spot,
long and slender horns,
pointing straight back, can
be up to 50cm long
DIET
Saola only eats grass and
leaves
HABITAT & POPULATION
*Habitat:
Saola lives in dense forests, where the
altitude is 200 to 600 meters above sea level.
In the winter, Saola migrates to lower areas
to avoid the cold.
*Population:
Saola has a small number, in Vietnam there
are only 50 to 60 children, in the world there
are less than 500.
Conservation Status
Vulnerable and Critically Endangered
