MID-TERM TEST – WRRITING

The line graph illustrates the number for visitors travelling to an island in
the Caribbean from 2010 to 2017.
Overall, the total number of tourists visiting this island had a dramatic rise
over the eight-year period. Moreover, the figure for visitors staying on
cruise ships also increased significantly and overtook that of visitors staying
on the island from 2016.
According to the line graph, at the beginning of the period, there were three
times as many people choosing to stay on the island as on cruise ships
(0.25 million and 0.75 million respectively). After 2 years, the quantity of
visitors staying on the island went up to nearly 1.5 million while the figure
for the other one hit the bottom of about 0.25 million.
Five years later, the data changed sharply because the travellers choosing
cruise ships grew rapidly and reached a peak of 2 million in 2017. However,
the figure for those choosing on the island remained almost unchanged and
finally saw reached at approximately 1.5 million in this year. The total
number for both types of visitors peaked at 3.5 million at the end of the
period.
