British and American English?


Use of auxiliaries and modal
A verb used in forming the tense, moods, and voices of other verbs.
The primary auxiliary verbs in English are be, do and have
The modal auxiliaries are: can could, may, might, must, etc.

In British English, the auxiliary do is often used as a substitute for a verb when replying to a question:

• Are you coming with us? I might do. (BrE)
• Are you coming with us? I might. (AmE)


Difference in using Will and Shall
In British English “shall” is sometimes used as a
substitute for “will”. When referring to the
future

I shall be there. (BrE more formal)
