When the subject is one person or one thing, we use is not or isn’t for a
negative sentence.

Is + singular noun subject / Are + plural noun subject
When making a question, the be-verb comes before the subject.
With a singular noun subject, we use is.

With a plural noun subject, we use are.

e.g. Are the students in the classroom?

I, you, plural subject + verb
Common verbs are not used together with be-verbs.
When the subject is I, you, or more than one person or thing, we use the
main verb as it is.

Singular subject + verb
When the subject is one person or thing, the verb has -s or -es at the end.

I, you, plural subject + do not + verb
When making a negative sentence with a common verb, we put do not or
don’t in front of the verb.
