UNIT 13 : FILMS AND CINEMA
SPEAKING
1. Class description:
Number of students: 50
Grade: 10th.
Level: Pre-Intermediate.
2. Time: 45 minutes.
3. Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:
- Know more vocabulary about kinds of films and adjectives about feeling.
- Ask and answer about films and cinema, express the attitudes about a film.
- Improve their speaking skill.
4. Assumed knowledge:
Ss have already known some vocabulary items related to the topic.
5. Anticipated problem(s):
+Students may have difficulty expressing their ideas because of limited structures and vocabulary.
+Some students don’t want to speak.
+It is likely to lack time because of many activities during the lesson
6. Teaching aids: Board, chalk, textbook, handouts.

-Greet students
-Giving instructions:
Our class will be divided into 3 big groups A, B and C. in each
group; We work in groups of 3 tables. In 3 minutes, write all
words you know in the piece of paper related to films, kind of
films, features of film and your feelings to film and so on. After
that, quickly as possible, you guys present for your group, come
here and write those words on the board. The quantity of words
you write will be counted. Group having more words than other
will be winner.
Check understand of students:
How many big groups do we have?
What will you write in the paper?
Ok, let’s get started.

Today Tv in 2010. It is a complicated story of two brothers
Michael Scofield(Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln
Burrows(Dominic Purcell) whose lives are changed when the

elder brother are condemned to death. While Lincoln’s waiting
his execution, Michael scofield believes that his brother is
innocent; therefore, formulates an escape plan. The film is full of
suspense as they are passed from the police to the FBI. Set in the
world of crime, spies and secrets, this film will leave you looking
over shoulder to see who’s following you. Such exciting film is
worth watching. It’s very interesting.
One of my favorite films that I have recently seen in National
cinema center is Titanic, a love story film. It is about the sinking
of a luxury ship named Titanic on its first voyage across the
Atlantic Ocean. The main characters are Jack Dawson, a poor
man, and Rose Dewitt Bukater, a high social class woman. They
fall in love with each other. Unfortunately, the ship hits an
iceberg and sinks rapidly. Many people die, including Jack but
Rose still alive. I find it really interesting and moving. I love it
because of its beautiful and skillful characters and spectacular

scenes.
A horror TV serial drama I have seen on internet is the Walking
Dead. The film tells us about Rick Grimes who is a former police
of Atlanta (Andrew Lincoln played) with his family as well as
some groups of survivors after doomsday. To exist, they must
escape and fight against zombies. Some scenes were so terrifying
with killing zombies violently that I didn’t dare to see. However,
I prefer it to other films because of characters’ acting and their
bravery.

-One student of pair gets the card of film review.
-other student of pair asks your partner some questions to find
what the film is. (questions in task 4)

Class will be divided into 2 groups, A&B
Each student writes name of a film you have seen.
After that, you guys take turn to ask the other groups about that
film to find what the name of film.
If the group guess correct name of film, they will get 10 points.
Talk about their favorite films. Using the below cues
