This Part of BS AU 21 5 has been prepared under the direction of the Automobile
Standards Committee and is identical with ISO 7804: 1 985 “Commercial road
vehicles — Side openings for truck power take-offs ”, published by the

International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
BS AU 21 5- 1 specifies dimensions for the clearance envelope for PTOs.
Terminology and conventions. The text of the International Standard has

been approved as suitable for publication as a British Standard without
deviation. Some terminology and certain conventions are not identical with those
used in British Standards; attention is drawn especially to the following.
The comma has been used as a decimal marker. In British Standards it is current
practice to use a full point on the baseline as the decimal marker.
Wherever the words “International Standard” or “ISO 7804” appear, referring to
this standard, they should be read as “British Standard” and “BS AU 21 5- 2”
respectively.

1 Scope and field of application

3.2 Type R

This International Standard lays down the

This International Standard defines two types of
side opening:
— Type R: regular duty type, 6 bolts M1 0
— Type H: heavy duty type, 8 bolts M1 2
Both types are specified with two alternative gear
depths and subdivided accordingly.
