AMERICAN LITERATURE 1&2
Part 1. Write a short professional bio data about your profession,
responsibilities, education, interests, and current work (no more than 150
words).

My name is Nguyen Van Viet and I have been working as a Medical
Physicist at the Nghe An Oncology Hospital since 2018. The profession of Medical
Physics is relatively new to some people, so in this essay, I would like to share a
little with everyone about who we are, what we do in the hospital, and our role in
the treatment of cancer. As a graduate in Nuclear Engineering from the Hanoi
University of Science and Technology, I am an expert in applied physics,
knowledgeable about the structure and operating principles of medical devices
used for diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients.

My main task is to plan radiation therapy for cancer patients, to monitor the
quality of treatment and the medical devices used for treatment. Radiation therapy
uses a linear accelerator machine, and my duty is to ensure its accurate operation,
so I also act as a repair engineer when the equipment malfunctions.
In addition, I also ensure the safety of humans from radiation hazards when
using the equipment. This job requires in-depth knowledge of both Physics and
Medicine, and the working environment is generally exposed to radioactive
hazards, but I am equipped with safety measures to limit those hazards.
I hope that through this sharing, many people will no longer be confused
about me, the work I am doing, and my contributions to the healthcare industry.

Part 2: Choose one of these questions which are given in the task and answer
it in a 300-words essay
In the satirical essay titled “Advice to Youth” what, exactly, is the advice that
"
Twain offers to the younger generation?"
In the satirical essay titled “Advice to Youth,” Mark Twain offers a
humorous take on the nature of youth and offers his thoughts on the advice that
should be given to younger generations. While the essay employs a satirical tone, it
does contain some useful insights and suggestions that remain relevant today.
Twain’s first piece of advice to young people is to always listen to their
elders. He notes that those who are older and more experienced have a great deal
of wisdom to offer, and that young people should take heed of this advice.
However, he also offers a caveat - that young people should not simply blindly
accept the advice given to them, but should use their own judgment and reasoning
abilities to evaluate what they hear.
Another piece of advice that Twain offers is that young people should be
themselves. He points out that many people try to be something they are not in
order to fit in or be popular, but that this is ultimately self-defeating. Instead, he
recommends that young people focus on being authentic and true to themselves,
and that this will ultimately lead to greater happiness and fulfillment in life.

In addition to these two pieces of advice, Twain also suggests that young
people should cultivate a love of learning, always strive for excellence, and
embrace failure as an inevitable part of life. He also stresses the importance of
cultivating a sense of humor, and not taking oneself too seriously.
While many of the ideas presented in “Advice to Youth” are presented in a
humorous or satirical fashion, they nonetheless contain valuable insights and
suggestions for young people today. By listening to their elders, being themselves,
embracing learning and excellence, and maintaining a sense of humor, young

people can cultivate the skills and attitudes needed to succeed in life. Perhaps
Twain’s greatest piece of advice, though, is that young people should always be
willing to question the advice they receive and to think for themselves – a skill that
will serve them well throughout their lives.
