Part 2: Write a contrastive essay of at least 250 words, using your detailed
outline in Part I.
Living in the city and in the countryside bring people much different experience
and making a choice between city and countryside is a tough decision since
both have their own benefits and drawbacks.
The first main difference between the countryside and the city is the
environment. The environment in urban is becoming more polluted by different
kinds of exhausted fumes, industrial wastes from factories and emission from
vehicles. Besides, cities are generally considered to have a fast-paced lifestyle
with busy and bustling due to the expanding population, residents are under
high pressure, they must compete more and more. On the contrary, rural people
are experiencing a better and cleaner environment with slow- paced lifestyle,
peaceful and other same things as fresher air, purer water sources are the vivid
evidence in the countryside.
Next, prices and market are also distinctive factors between city and country.
The cost of living in the city is always higher than in rural areas because of high
demand for housing, food, and services. For instance, to own a house or a flat, it
costs urban people a fortune that is worth many years of working. However, in
the rural area, people can easily have a house, even the large house, which only
cost them third of price they have to pay for the same area in the city. In
addition, in the countryside, people can always buy a lot of fresh foods and
vegetables which they grown and harvested right in the fields.
Another difference is the facilities between the city and country. A city has
many advanced systems to manage transportation, housing, entertainment,
communication whereas a countryside does not have many facilities that do not
have some chances to interact with modern amenities. For example, city life
gives inhabitants the ability to be exposed to more culture. Museums, theatre,
bars, clubs are often easily accessible in cites.

Finally, the last significant difference between the two places is appearance.
In the city, people can see skyscrapers and buildings everywhere, and people
here are highly busy with their personal work. There are a lot of vehicles in the
streets that lead to traffic jams in rush hours. In contrast to the city, the
landscape in the countryside is easier to see with immense fields and lots of
green trees.
In conclusion, the choice of living in a city or the countryside depends on one’s
preferences and priorities. While living in a city is easy access to facilities but it
also comes with pollution, busy and bustling. On the other hand, living in the
countryside provides peace and quiet, fresh produce, but it lacks facilities.
Therefore, one must weigh the pros and cons of each option and make a good
decision.
