TOPICS
You have three minutes to deliver a speech of the topic given. You are expected to include three
parts of a speech, namely Introduction, Development and Conclusion with the use of some linking
words.
1/ What are the benefits and disadvantages of learning foreign languages at the early age.

- Intro: Learning a foreign language at the young age is becoming a tendency all over the world. This trend brings

about both advantages and disadvantages. Now I wil take this opportunity to talk about these aspects of this
problem.

- In term of benefit: young children learn a language faster, pick up pronunciation better, have more time to

concentrate on learning, having a good preparation at the early age will help children get a better career in the
future.

6

- On the other hand, learning a foreign language at the young age may have some disadvantages: may be

confusing because children have to learn mother tongue and foreign language at the same time; cost a lot of
money.

- Conclusion: In conclution, there are some particular advantanges and disadvantage of learning a new foreign

language at the early age. However, in my opinion, learning a foreign language at primary school is more
benefical than disadvantage. So, I will also let my child learn a foreign language from a young age

2/ What are the benefits and drawbacks of travelling?

- Intro: In my opinion, travelling is one of the best ways to discover the beauty of nature and explore the different
cultures. Whenever I have spare time, I often take a trip to different places in Vietnam or to another country to
get rid of the hustle and bustle of the busy life. Today I’m talking about….

- Benefits: First, Meeting new people. When you travel you can make new friends and business contacts – and
even fall in love. Second, learning new languages. What better way to improve your language skills than by
traveling to a country where that language is spoken. Finally, travelling is the best solution for those of us who
suffer from boredom or want to get away from "grey reality" and experience great adventure

- Drawbacks: costs of travelling are often quite high for example travelling by plane, so naturally not everyone can
afford. What is more, journeys especially foreign ones expose us to danger of disease or even death. Travelling
can lead to fall ill and maybe then to expensive treatment or in case of fatal accident like for instance car and
aerial one to death of many people. The next disadvantage is fatigue that occur while travelling. Most journeys
last very long, and it can make us feel tired.

- Conclusion: To sum up, travelling is a very good way of spending time. It can educate, give impressions, nice
memories and let make friends. However, in my opinion travelling in spite of its whole advantages, it should not
be the only way to learn about the world

3/ Discuss the importance of the Internet.

- Intro: Today, the internet has become unavoidable in our daily life. Appropriate use of the internet makes our

life easy, fast and simple. The internet helps us with facts and figures, information and knowledge for personal,
social and economic development. There are many uses of the internet, and now I’m gonna talk about some of
them.

- Uses of the Internet in Education: The Internet is a great platform for students to learn throughout their lifetime.

They can use the internet to learn new things and even acquire degrees through online education programs.
Teachers can also use the internet to teach students around the world.

- Internet Use to Speed Up Daily Task: The Internet is very much useful in our daily routine tasks. For example, it

helps us to see our notifications and emails. Apart from this, people can use the internet for money transfers,
shopping order online food, etc.

- Use of the Internet for Shopping: With the help of the internet, anybody can order products online. The increase

in online shopping has also resulted in companies offering a huge discount for their customers.

- Internet for Research & Development: The Internet plays a pivotal role in research and development as it is

propelled through internet research. The benefit of the internet is enjoyed by small businessmen to big
universities.

- Business Promotion and Innovation: The Internet is also used to sell products by using various e-Commerce

solutions. The result is new services and businesses starting every day thereby creating job opportunities and
reducing unemployment.

7

- Communication: Without a doubt, the internet is the most powerful medium of communication at present. It

connects people across different parts of the world free and fast.

- In conclusion, internet plays an important role in many different fields which includes banks, schools, industries

and others. People have benefited from this technology in both their professional and personal lives.

4/ What are the benefits and drawbacks of watching TV?

SAMPLE 1:

Nowadays, many people spend a lot of time watching television. It can't be denied that since television
was invented, it has changed our life in many ways , and brought us many advantages as well as disadvantages.

Television plays an important role in our daily life. It's very informative. Through television, we can get
the latest information easily and rapidly without leaving home. We can learn more and more about the world we
live and see many interesting things. Our knowledge is broadened (ró đình- mở rộng) in many ways.

Secondly, television helps us to enrich our spiritual (xít bía ri chồ - tinh thần) lives. In particular, we can
learn the language we like such as English, Chinese, France, Spanish, Japanese.....through language programs.
We can be good and clever at doing jobs, making cakes, cooking, arranging flowers through practical courses
which are taught on television.

And watching is an enjoyable way to relax. After a hard-working day, it's so comfortable and fun to sit at
the armchair and see a movie or watch a comedy program. There are also educational programs on television, so
children can learn a lot from these programs.

On the other hand, television has some disadvantages. It has negative effects, especially for children.
Some movies contain violence or crime. Therefore, the evil influence of television on the young generation is
inevitable(in é vi đờ bồ - không thể tránh khỏi). It encourages them to commit crime, or make children grow up
to be violent adults.

What's more, watching television too much makes us passive. When watching TV, our brains don't need
to work. Therefore, our brains become lazier. Watching TV too much is also bad for our eyes. This is the main
cause that leads to short-sightedness (sót sai địt nịc – cận thị).

All things considered, everything has two sides, advantages and disadvantages. Television will be useful
to us if only we know how to use it correctly.

SAMPLE 2:

Some people claim that television is harmful, while others think of television as a best friend. Now I
would like to talk about the benefits and drawbacks of watching TV.

Benefit:

- In this busy, expensive life, television is an easy and cheap source of entertainment. By watching
international news, we are kept informed and up-to-date with breaking news around the world.

- Another advantage is that television can also be a good way to help people learn a different language.
Some shows can motivate people who are interested in that field and help them to pursue their dreams

- Finally, TV can expand your mind. Some shows let you travel vicariously and teach you about
different people, cultures, ideas, and places you might never encounter in real life. Watching a variety of shows
might give us a broader understanding of the world we live in and expose us to things we might otherwise never
come across in our own lives.

Disadvantages:

8

- Watching too much television is not good for your health. Studies have shown that there is a
correlation between watching television and obesity.

- It's a waste of time. Watching television fills the time a person might have spent doing important,
enriching things like interacting socially with other human beings, being physically active, discovering the
outdoors. Television can ruin your relationships.

In conclusion, watching TV has both benefits and disadvantages. In my opinion, the right way of
television use is the way which is responsible and for free time.

5/ What are the advantages and disadvantages of using public transports.
SAMPLE 1:
Nowadays, more and more people prefer taking public transport rather than using their own car.

However, there are a lot of positives and negatives about using public transport. In this essay, I will discuss both
views of it.

On the one hand, public transport is beneficial for both countries and individuals. Firstly, public
transport can help to decrease significant quantities of private vehicles and exhaust fumes from them as well.
This contributes to reduce air pollution causing global warming which may have devastating effect on our
environment. Secondly, investment in public facilities, particularly transportation system, will ease traffics
congestion as people are encouraged to travel by buses and trains instead of driving. Finally, modern public
transport is often fast and cheap, which will bring out saving time and money on transit for everyone.

On the other hands, it is inconvenient to have access to public transport because of some reasons. Buses

and trains are often slow and unreliable; as a result, commuters will show up non-punctually or even delay their
important events. For instance, last month, most of Singaporean pupils were late to get to school for the final
examination in secondary schools due to train disruption and they had to take the exam later. Moreover, people
often feel like “sardine in can” as using metro system in the rush hours, which is not as comfortable as driving
their own cars.

In addition, public places are becoming insecure because of a possible threat of terrorism, which is not
safe for travelers taking public transportation. In conclusion, there are both advantages and disadvantages of
public transport that people should consider before travelling by them regularly

SAMPLE 2:
Nowadays, using public transport has been becoming increasingly popular. Many people choose public
transport because they want to make a contribution to protect the environment. However, there are certainly
some benefits as well as drawbacks to this tendency and this essay aims to highlight both.
One of the main advantages of public transport is to better the environment. When people use public
transport more and more, they will stop going by car. Hence, the congestion will decrease. In addition, the
exhaust fumes from cars will become less. The petrol consumption will also fall. Therefore, all of the results of
stopping using private cars will lead to protecting the environment.
Secondly, using public transport will save the money and resources of both individuals and society.
Going by public transport often costs less than other private vehicles because it is subsidized by the government.
Also, it is more efficient when comparing the cost per person for travelling. As I represented above, the petrol

9

consumption and carbon emissions will decrease when public transportation is used, so the total cost to society
will decrease

Thirdly, public transportation will bring more jobs and more social interactions between people. When
travelling by public transportation there are chances to talk and to interact with the people around us.
Sometimes, it’s a small joy when you discover a cabin mate has the same viewpoint. Besides, public

transportation creates a lot of jobs, hence, it will aid the development of the economy

Having looked at both sides, slowness is a major problem. Many are often behind the timetable, which
brings about the loss of passengers. For example, I went by bus to a recruiting company for an interview.
However, the bus did not run on the schedule so I was late when I went to the company, then the company
refused to recruit me.

Another disadvantage is that public transport such as buses, trains are very crowded. Sometimes, there is
not enough space for passengers to have a seat. The vehicle are also used for a long time, therefore, they can be
very out of date and dirty. All of these factors make the passenger feel very inconvenienced.

To sum up, going by public transport has both positives and negatives. While people could save money
and protect the environment by using public transportation, they have to endure the inconvenience and
slowness. In my opinion, if the government invests in modernising public transportation in the years to come, it
will attract a huge number of people to use it.

6/ Present the good points and bad points of having fast food.
SAMPLE 1:
Fast foods are probably the most attractive food to many, especially to children and young
people. People usually think that fast foods are absolutely bad, but I believe they have some positive
points.
I agree that fast food is unhealthy. They are high in fat, which easily makes the ones who
consume it overweight. Besides, there are some components inside fast food that may lead to cancer if
people eat too much of it. Also, they are high in cholesterol, which affects their blood flow and leads to
heart diseases, sometimes even stroke and death. Also, consumers really don’t know what ingredients
are really used to make them. The process of cooking and preparing may be not salubrious, you can even
be food poisoned.
Besides such above drawbacks, fast food has some certain advantages. First, they save time for
people, they don’t need to cook or prepare meals, just go to a fast food restaurant, they can enjoy their
meals there. And so, eating and getting a full meal is not a problem because anyone can just walk a few

meters or cross the street and food is available. That’s why fast food is chosen by workers, office staff
and the ones who are always busy. Moreover, it’s true that fast food provides a huge amount of energy,
so it’s very suitable for those who have to work for long hours without having a rest. The calories inside
fast food help them to maintain their power as well as alertness.
In conclusion, fast food is good at some points. Don’t consume it too much or too regularly to
keep you fit and healthy.

10

SAMPLE 2:
Fast food is the name given to food that can be cooked and served very quickly, fast food can also be
described as any food that provides little or no nutrient value to the diet but instead provides excess calories and
fat, fast food can be a great way to save time but it is not the proper way for nutrition as these foods are often of
little nutritional benefit and high in fat sugar and calories.
Advantages of junk food:

- Saving your time: when you are in hurry and you don't have time to eat your lunch or dinner and you
cannot wait for a longer period of time up for eating junk food is the option for you to fill your stomach
and to get somewhat satisfaction from the hunger

- easy to make: McDonald’s and burger king make their so-called tasty burgers in just two to three
minutes and you don't have to wait for more than that. so the point is that it is very easy to make and you
can make it within a few minutes compared to lunch or dinner.

- Affordable price: junk food is always having a low cost compared to lunch and dinner and in restaurants
and hotels because it doesn't need to spend time and material to make, that’s why they are having an
affordable price for everyone.
Disadvantages of junk food:
First of all, fast food is fried by oil. For example, When it was fried, chemical reactions occur. By-
products of these chemical reactions make us sick or give us bad effect. Secondly, Raw materials of this

food don’t have good nutrition for body.
Eating fast food has advantages and disadvantages for us. Therefore we should eat more vegetables,
fruits or home-cook meals and shouldn’t eat too much fast food in order to have a good health.

7/ There are the negatives and positives of living in a big city. Do you agree with this statement?

SAMPLE 1:

Nowadays, large cities are becoming more and more inhabited(in há bi tax -cư trú). The majority of the
population prefer living in a big town mainly because of the great advantages it has compared to living in the
countryside. However, what are the benefits of this situation, and what are the drawbacks?

Let’s start looking at the advantages. One of the main positives of a big town is the large amount of
shops available in every corner of the city. What I mean by this is that whenever you live, there are some useful
stores like supermarkets, banks, tobacconists and clothing stores where you can easily buy everything you need
without going to the city center. Secondly, living in a big town is a big challenge for evening parties. In Ho Chi
Minh, for example, there are so many things to do in the evenings like going to the cinema, to the pub or to the
park during the summer period.

Turning to the other side of the argument, traffic could be one of the major disadvantages of living in a
big city. Many people take the car everyday and it has also been proved that the majority of the families have at
least two cars. This means that you have to deal with rush-hour traffic on your way to work and on your way
back. In addition, in a big town there is consequently a lot of smog and this can really affect people’s health.

To sum up, living in a big city has great advantages but also some significant negatives. You have to
weigh up to the pros of enjoying evenings’ nights outside and the availability of many shops and the cons of
cope with smog and traffic issues. Personally, I believe that the benefits of enjoying the city-life and the comfort
of having shops at every corner, eventually overweigh the negatives.

SAMPLE 2:

SAMPLE 3:

Living in a big city has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Big city is a place of high living standard. You can live in a good condition with modern facilities and
social services such as health care, education and entertainment. It is also an economic center which is a good
area for you to develop your career and business. Turning to the other side of the argument, big city life is not
for everyone. You may find it very noisy and hectic with crazy traffic which leads to environmental problems.
Moreover, a big city tends to have high rates of crime due to the density and poverty. You can feel unsafe
although it's crowded around you. In conclusion, there are both good sides and bad sides of living in a big city.
The important thing is to learn how to adapt to your living environment and take advantage of it.

8/ Discuss the importance of learning English.
It’s easy to see just how important English is around the world. Many international businesses conduct

meetings in English, universities teach courses in English and, around the world, tourists and travellers use
English as a common language.

- English is a global language: English is the most commonly spoken language in the world. One out of
five people can speak or at least understand English!

- Studying English can help you get a job: English is the language of science, aviation, computers,
diplomacy, and tourism (tua rí zum). Knowing English increases your chances of getting a good job in a
multinational company within your home country or of finding work abroad.

- Learning English can help you meet new people: English is the official language of 53 countries and is
used as a lingua (lính gui) franca (a mutually known language) by people from all around the world. This means
that whether you’re working in Beijing, or travelling in Brazil, studying English can help you have a
conversation with people from all over the world.

- Many scientific papers are written in English: In the last century, the number of scientific papers
written in English has started to outweigh the number of papers written in the native language of the researcher.
In the Netherlands, for example, the ratio is a surprising 40 to 1. For this reason, having a knowledge of English
is incredibly important to those working in the scientific field.

- English is the language of the media industry: Because of the prominence of Hollywood in global
media, an enormous amount of films, TV shows and popular songs are written in English. If you speak English,

12

you won't need to rely on translations and subtitles anymore to enjoy your favourite books, songs, films and TV
shows.

likely they will be able to answer your question in English.

Playing sports or doing physical exercises helps us maintain our health as well as keep our body fit.

Moreover, some people find that they can not live happily without these sports. However, every things all

10/ What are the advantages and disadvantages of living in a nuclear (nêu c lia ờ) family.
- The individual nuclear family is a universal social phenomenon (phờ nó mờ non – hiện tượng). In simple
words a nuclear family is one which consists of the husband wife and their unmarried children. Today
I’m talking about the advantages and disadvantages of living in a nuclear family.
- Advantages:
o Development of Personality: Nuclear family plays an important role in the development of
personality of individuals. Children are more close to the parents and can have more free and
frank discussion about their problems with parents which helps for the better development of
their personality.

13

o Better Condition of Women: In nuclear families the condition of woman is better than joint
families. She gets enough time to look after her children. She also gets time to plan and manage
her house according to her own idea. There is no interference of elders. Her husband can also
devote more attention to the wife in nuclear family.

o Less number of children: Family planning programme becomes successful in nuclear families.
The members of nuclear family have to plan and limit their family as they have to bear all the
responsibilities and expenses themselves to rear their children. The children also are benefited in
the long run as they inherit directly property from their parents.

- Disadvantages:
o Economic disadvantage: The property of the family is divided among the brothers and each live
separately. Family members have to employ other labours to achieve the desired goal due to
limited size of family. In this way the economic loss is more in nuclear family by paying
remuneration to the labourers.

o Insecurity of Children: In nuclear family both husband and wife adopt profession outside the
family, then children are neglected and looked after by the servants. They feel lonely and
emotional insecure. They develop more anxiety. If the bread winner dies or becomes incapable to
en, there is no one to support the family. Even in time of emergency like sickness, accident or
during pregnancy family members are very much neglected and there is no one to take care of
them

11/ Living in an extended family brings us many advantages. Discuss this statement
SAMPLE 1:
Family is one of the most important parts of society. In my opinion, although living in extended family

is not so common because of the differences in viewpoints, beliefs, .. it brings us many advantages.
Firstly, modern day families face higher costs of housing and are put under the heavier pressure of both

childcare and elderly care so living under the same roof can be a good idea to reduce household expenses. It's
hard to pay all the expenses: water bill, electricity bill,... on your own, but it's not an issue when you live in an
extended family as you can share it with everyone.

Secondly, extended family is good for childcare and education. Children will have opportunities to learn,
grow up and also get advice from older people about history, traditions, social skills, etc.

Besides that, children living in extended families tend to be good at school, more sociable, responsible
and sympathetic.

Finally, all the family members can spend time together to share all worries, thinkings, and everyone can
understand each other more. The family will be more happy and relationships bond between them will be
maintained steadily.

In short, I think extended family is a good choice for everyone.
SAMPLE 2:

Living in an extended family (Sống trong gia đình đa thế hệ):

14

- Advantages: have more support from other family members, be happier, children develop strong
relationships with adults other than parents, the elderly become more active (Thuận lợi: có được sự giúp đỡ/ hỗ
trợ nhiều hơn từ các thành viên khác trong gia đình, vui vẻ hơn, con trẻ phát triển các mối quan hệ vững chắc
với người lớn ngoài cha mẹ chúng, người già trở nên năng động hơn)

- Disadvantages: a lot of conflicts between different generations, lack of privacy, independence and
space (nhiều xung đột xảy ra giữa các thế hệ khác nhau, thiếu sự riêng tư, thiếu sự độc lập và không gian riêng

12/ What are the good points and bad points of wearing uniform.
SAMPLE 1:
Uniforms, be it in schools or at workplaces, are used to distinguish (đờ ting vịt Sh- phân biệt) employees

of various designations. Uniforms play an important role in the organization. They act as an identification mark
for customers to spot company employees.

* The advantages of uniforms
- Advertising for the company: A uniform basically is a walking advertisement for the company. When
stepping out in the world, or are working people usually take notice of your uniforms and through company
logos and emblems (ém b lum s- biểu tượng) people get to know what the company name is. This creates a
sense of brand awareness within the locality and within the working society.
- Identity: Uniform helps the workers bring a sense of identity within the company and the organization.
It also achieves for them a sense of belonging.
Wearing the same clothes would lead to a feeling of team spirit, and make the employees feel that they
are a part of the company. This enables the employees to be more into the company and be more active inside
the company. It also increases a feeling of loyalty and allegiance from the employees towards the company.

- Professional image: Uniforms usually give their employees a professional and an executive look. This
pleases a customer when he first sees the employee. Moreover, it builds a sense of trust and confidence to the
customer when interacting with a uniformed individual. The uniform creates a professional feel and sets the
standard of the customer of what they expect from the employee. This shows how strict and disciplined the
company is to its employees.
SAMPLE 2:
Nowadays, wearing a uniform is an obligation in some companies and organizations. They demand their
staff to wear uniforms because they believe that it has a lot of advantages. However, some others disagree. In
fact, wearing a uniform has both merits and demerits.
One of many advantages is that wearing a uniform can distinguish employees of different companies and
organizations, so we are able to know practically which company or organization an employee is in. Indeed, a
uniform is a representation of a company or an organization. Another good point of wearing a uniform is that it
can promote the brands of the companies and the names of the organizations to be known by more people.
Moreover, there is a strong bond between staff who wear the same uniform. Actually, uniforms are able to
encourage employees in a company or an organization to cooperate and work hard together because they feel
that they belong to the same group of people and are not left out. In addition, wearing a uniform at work will

15

reduce distraction and increase productivity. Generally, people do not feel interested in looking at clothes that
are the same as their own, so they do not distract from their work and they might work harder. The last, but not
least, is that wearing a uniform will help those people who are indecisive about what clothes they should wear in
their workplace. For example, a person may feel relaxed when he or she sees that he or she does not wear
clothes which are lower standard than the other workers. Thus, every worker feels equal in their workplace.

Everything in the world is like a double-edged weapon and wearing a uniform is not an exception,
despite many plus sides. One negative side is that some workers do not want to wear uniforms that their
companies or organizations require them to wear. Therefore, they might feel uneasy at work and their
productivity might decline. Additionally, wearing a uniform limits self-expression and individuality. For
example, a person would like to wear clothes that are suitable for her, so she is able to show her beautiful figure,

but she could not wear them due to the wearing-uniform rule of her company. Another disadvantage of wearing
the same clothes in the company or organization is that people will be bored with their working atmosphere
because everyone wears the same things. In conclusion, the advantages of wearing uniform outweigh the
disadvantages. As far as I am concerned, I think the demerit of wearing a uniform at work can be avoided if
there is a discussion about the kind of uniform that satisfies both the manager and the staff in the company or
the organization.

13/ Discuss the importance of having a university degree.
Although it takes a great deal of time and resources to complete, a university education is an extremely

valuable asset in a person’s life. This degree provides people with many benefits. A university education can
provide a person with the tools and skills needed to become a productive member of society, to accomplish
personal financial goals as well as to broaden intellectual curiosity.

Those with the means and desire to attend university will find that this experience is very beneficial to
preparing a person to become a productive member of society. Not only can a higher education lead to
employment opportunities, it can also teach a person to network, cooperate in a team and be more open minded.
A university degree allows people to widen their employment opportunities as well as their own sphere of
influence based on greater understanding of world issues. For example, a degree in English may lead to travel
around the world to teach others, share knowledge and skills. A degree gives a person the confidence necessary
to contribute to the development of others.

One of the reasons why individuals pursue higher education is to gain the skills needed to attain their
employment and financial goals. A university education is invaluable for individuals who wish to change their
standard of living or to gain financial freedom. For example, financial freedom allows a person to travel, learn
more about the world, but to also share this wealth and contribute to the wellbeing of others through charitable
donations or volunteering.

The experience of attending university also presents people with the skills to be life learners and to begin
the change that they want to see in the world. A university is a place where great thinkers and intellectuals

gather to conduct research and to challenge students on a wide variety of topics. Attending such institutions
creates individuals who think critically about world events, the structure of society and the future of civilization.

16

By taking advantage of the surrounding opportunities, future presidents, prime ministers and leaders will be
made. These will be individuals who strive to create societies which are pleasant and comfortable for everyone.

A university degree gives individuals the opportunity to change the world. It molds productive,
financially satisfied and deep thinking people who have the potential to lead the commencement of future
generations who are happier and more prosperous in every way.

14/ Nowadays, the Facebook has become popular? Discuss the reasons?

Nowadays, Facebook is the most popular social media which helps to connect people. Not only adults but also
teenagers are using Facebook. There are many ways to communicate on Facebook. You can post messages to the public
or to your friends. If you want a private conversation, you can send a direct message to a friend and start chatting. If you
want to meet new people with same interests, you can join in Facebook groups or Facebook pages.

When friends and family members move to a different place or even different country, Facebook can help you
keep in touch. In addition to communicating directly through posting and messaging, you can play games with them,
making them seem closer despite the distance.

Facebook can also help reduce or eliminate the barriers to meet new people. For example, if you feel nervous
about asking someone in class about a homework assignment, you may feel more comfortable sending messages to that
person on Facebook. That way, you can think over what you write and can avoid any embarrassment in face-to-face
meeting. That's the reason why shy people spend more time on Facebook than sociable people

Sports play a great in everyone’s busy life. Everyone should involve themselves in the sports activity

the person involved in this on regular basis. People who have busy schedule in their life get tired very easily. As

weaknesses. It makes us bold and gives the feeling of happiness by reducing the occurrence of anxiety and
angry. It makes us physically fit and mentally comfort using which we can easily deal with all the problems.

16/ Discuss the roles of technology in education.
The importance of the technology sector is constantly increasing. The more technology advances, the

more benefits it provides to students at every level of education. There are numerous (níu mơ rợt – nhiều)
reasons why technology is such an important aspect of learning in schools. Whether we like it or not,
technology is everywhere; And our students must know the technology to survive in post-secondary education
and the professional world. Its importance is growing rapidly in the technology education sector. The more

technology advances, the more benefits it provides to students at every level of education. The technology used
in the classroom helps students advertise the material. For example, since some people are visual learners,
computer-attached projection screens may allow students to listen to lectures rather than simply view their
notes. The software can be used as a supplement to the classroom curriculum (cờ rít kiu lum – chương trình
giảng dạy) . Programs provide study questions, activities, even tests, and quizzes for the class that help students
learn outside the classroom. Technology has become part of many curricula beyond computers and technology
classes. Students use computers and use the Internet to present exams for learning from various educational
websites. With the continuous advancement in the technical world, students' performance is gaining better
access to these national educational opportunities. We need to face the truth, technology is in the world today
and it has become necessary in every area of our life and education is certainly not behind. This is very useful
for providing our students with more knowledge and making them competitive in the job market.

17/ Discuss the roles of the computers in working places.
There's no doubt (đao t – nghi ngờ) that computers and computer networks have had a significant (sếp né

fi kinh – có ý nghĩa) effect on the world of business. It's difficult to imagine a time when file folders, phone
calls and face-to-face meetings were the only ways to conduct business.

- Speed and Accuracy (ắt cúi ra ci – sự chính xác): Anything and everything accomplished in the hustle
(hớt sồ - chen lấn) and bustle (bớt sồ - nhộn nhịp) of today's business world owes (ô s – nợ) its speed to the
computer. Whether it's accounting for or transferring large sums of money, conducting transactions and
accepting payments for online goods and services, mammoth (máy mợt – khổng lồ) calculations, research or
communications, one of the biggest benefits of computers is that everything takes less time than ever before.
What once had to be done in person now can be done via text message, email or social media.

- The Ability to Forecast: Powerful computers and software make it possible for businesses to conduct
complex financial projections to help them make important business decisions that will affect long-term growth
and sustainability (sớt tinh nơ bi li ti – sự bền vững). Computers help project how certain variables - increased
sales, a downturn in the economy, a new product line, for instance - might affect the bottom line a year or so in
the future.

- Increased Connectivity: Computers have connected people in the modern world in ways never before
imagined. No longer is it necessary to hop on an airplane to conduct a business meeting with a client in another
part of the world - a simple video conference will do the trick. There is no longer an excuse for employees not to
be involved in important business functions because they're out of the office.

- Information Security: The benefits of computers make it much easier to keep private information
secure through the use of password-protected servers and virus elimination software. While even today's high-

18

tech security solutions aren't always foolproof against society's best hackers, most information on computers is
much safer than in the days of file cabinets, when the right pair of eyes with the right set of keys could go
snooping.

- Hiring and Managing Employees Job
-seeking websites and social media outlets such as LinkedIn and Indeed make it easier to advertise the
need for employees with specific skills. Online job applications, as well as resume-scanning software, are some
advantages of a computer system that can help screen potential matches, as well as eliminate the time-
consuming task of interviewing those who aren't qualified

18/ Discuss the importance of mobile phones.
Mobile Phone is often also called “cellular phone” which is a device mainly used for a voice call. Today,

with the help of a mobile phone we can easily talk or video chat with anyone across the globe by just moving
our fingers.

- Keeps us connected
Now we can be connected to our friends, relatives at any time we want through many apps. Now we can
talk video chat with whoever we want, by just operating your mobile phone or smartphone. Apart from this

mobile also keeps us updated about the whole world.
- Day to Day Communicating
Today mobiles phone has made our life so easy for daily life activities. Today, one can assess the live
traffic situation on mobile phone and take appropriate decisions to reach on time. Along with it the weather
updates, booking a cab and many more.
- Entertainment for All
With the improvement of mobile technology, the whole entertainment world is now under one roof.
Whenever we get bored with routine work or during the breaks, we can listen to music, watch movies, our
favorite shows or just watch the video of one’s favorite song.

instantly to friends, relatives or others by using mobile baking in the smartphone. Also, one can easily access
his/her account details and know past transactions. So it saves a lot of time and also hassle-free.

19/ What are advantages and disadvantages of online education.
Advantages:
- Efficiency Online learning offers teachers an efficient way to deliver lessons to students. Online

learning has a number of tools such as videos, PDFs, podcasts, and teachers can use all these tools as part of

19

their lesson plans. By extending the lesson plan beyond traditional textbooks to include online resources,
teachers are able to become more efficient educators.

- Accessibility (khả năng tiếp cận) Of Time And Place

Another advantage of online education is that it allows students to attend classes from any location of
their choice. It also allows schools to reach out to a more extensive network of students, instead of being
restricted by geographical boundaries. Additionally, online lectures can be recorded, archived, and shared for
future reference. This allows students to access the learning material at a time of their comfort.
Thus, online learning offers students the accessibility of time and place in education.
- Affordability (khả năng chi trả)
Another advantage of online learning is reduced financial costs. Online education is far more affordable
as compared to physical learning. This is because online learning eliminates the cost points of student
transportation, student meals, and most importantly, real estate (địa ốc). Additionally, all the course or study
materials are available online, thus creating a paperless learning environment which is more affordable, while
also being beneficial to the environment.
Disadvantages:
- Inability To Focus On Screens
For many students, one of the biggest challenges of online learning is the struggle with focusing on the
screen for long periods of time. With online learning, there is also a greater chance for students to be easily
distracted by social media or other sites. Therefore, it is imperative for the teachers to keep their online classes
crisp, engaging, and interactive to help students stay focused on the lesson.
- Technology Issues
Another key challenge of online classes is internet connectivity. While internet penetration has grown in
leaps and bounds over the past few years, in smaller cities and towns, a consistent connection with decent speed
is a problem. Without a consistent internet connection for students or teachers, there can be a lack of continuity
in learning for the child. This is detrimental to the education process.
- Sense Of Isolation
Students can learn a lot from being in the company of their peers. However, in an online class, there are
minimal physical interactions between students and teachers. This often results in a sense of isolation for the
students. In this situation, it is imperative that the school allow for other forms of communication between the
students, peers, and teachers. This can include online messages, emails and video conferencing that will allow
for face-to-face interaction and reduce the sense of isolation.

20/ Do you think people today have less free time than in the past? Why or Why not?

It’s really a controversial issue (Đó thực sự là một vấn đề gây tranh cãi.). Almost every human in this
planet is now paying his/her close attention to the leisure time. Some are complaining with the decrease of
leisure time and the drastic stress ( căng thẳng mạnh mẽ ) they are confronting, whilst some are bluffing their
comfortable workspace and life quality. What on earth is the truth? In my opinion, most people are losing their
leisure time and spend less in entertainment nowadays than before. There is no deny that the rapidly
development of technology and swift growth of working efficiency are far beyond that our ancestor could
image. But in the same time, our total quantity of work or tasks has raised several times as before and so does
